Hi can anyone tell me how long it takes DLA to make a new decision when informed on a change, care needs have increased?

If both the DLA and your current Insurance Company have come back to you and have confirmed in writing that you you are ok to continue driving I'm pleased for you. Keep those two invaluable documents in a very safe place my friend, I hope you are never called upon to produce them but .. .. if you are you will be forever grateful that you took such care of them. :) and congratulations for doing the right thing !

Anywhere upto 13 weeks dependant on whether a medical is required to confirm the change

The letters sent out after application ask you to wait at least 8 weeks before contacting them to chase up an application.

In my experience they usually take the full 8 weeks to make a decision, there is a huge backlog of DLA aplications and appeals atm.
  • Weeks???? substitute months in my case.

I put in a claim just into the new year as money was getting a bit tight.
    They failed it in February.
I got the GP to give me a letter and they still haven't considered the decision again.

I know someone who claimed in mid November 2010 and only just received the 'into which account shall we pay arrears / make weekly payments letter' - which I'm guessing means they won their claim. So that makes it 7 months plus.....
