Hi can anyone tell me how long it takes DLA to make a new decision when informed on a change, care needs have increased?

When my health deteriorated, it took a couple of months for them to make the decision to increase my award, then on renewal, it took around five weeks.

How long have you waited, so far?

I rang them yest they said they received my information on 21st June and it was in a pile to been seen by the decision maker....said they could not give a time?

The letters sent out after application ask you to wait at least 18 weeks before contacting them to chase up an application.

In my experience they usually take the full 18 weeks to make a decision, there is a huge backlog of DLA aplications and appeals atm.

its actually 8 weeks NOT 18,and the time taken can vary from a few days to 12 weeks, the more information provided the sooner a decision can be made
