Can I set up a premium rate phone number

Sipgate numbers behave just like any 01 or 02 number, that is they can be called from landline, mobile or other VoIP.
(I don't have a landline, only VoIP (use standard phones connected to an Analogue Telephone Adapter) so no need for a PC, as VoIP is my only means of people calling me on an 01 and 02 number, would be pointless if VoIP only allowed PCs to call.
This all depends on what you want to do.
If you want an 0870 number to ring your usual 01 / 02 landline, then you don't need sipgate, you simply order the 0870 and then enter the actual number you want the called 0870 number to ring.
Some providers of 0870 / 0871 do voice to email voicemail service, though you might not find one that does, so you could find an 0870 provider and point it to the 01 or 02 number you get for free from Sipgate and set that up as voicemail only.
Sipgate do issue 0870 numbers, but you don't get a cut from the call to these.
As for business number, people hate calling 0845, 0870 and 0871 numbers, as they cost more to a lot more to call, if you were seriously considering a business number, then you could go the VoIP route and have a real 01 or 02 number as people prefer to call these, some VoIP providers allow these to be routed to a mobile, but you will have to pay the diverted call costs. If you have a router, then an ATA would allow the VoIP phone service to run without a PC being on.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
speaking of turning the tables by getting big companies to call your 0870 number.. you could go one step further and tell them "your call is important to me, and is now in a queue - please hold" then torture them with some Barry Manilow perhaps?I hear the cry of the silence around me.0

Just been looking on a web site (Primex.co.uk). So im interested in getting one of these numbers. Sounds ok. It cost nothing, yet i can still use my OWN number for friends and family at no extra costs to them. Yet i can give my 0870 number to companies to call me. Better still i can gain money from them.
Not alot i gather but still. How do you get this money? Is it a cheque yearly? Anyone actually do this soley for companies to call them on?
Would be interesting to hear from people that actually use this.0 -

Yes, you can still use your own number, because all the 0870 number is is an extra number that diverts to your real number when some one calls it. Like when you have a mobile phone and you divert it to a landline, or a landline and divert it to another number. However because the cost of calling the 0870 number is higher than the actual cost to deliver calls, there is room to allow some revenue sharing.
Like I've posted previously, I've used these numbers for years, I have several of them, due to using different companies later on, I get paid in different ways, some numbers, I get sent a cheque, other numbers it's paid direct in to my bank account. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... Its actually Primex that I've signed up with.
Its a monthly payout, and they tell me that they pay out when you've earned £1. If you haven't earned the pound, it rolls over.
Don't know HOW you receive their cash yet - presumably it'll be by cheque.0 -
