the croquet set is a self contained item, if you were charging for the individual components it would run into about 25, when you count the hoops! Thing is i really want one as we were only talking at the week end how we used to play as children at my nana's on holiday and i haven't swung a mallet for years! It is a bit cheap looking for £20 and would rather spend more for better quality, but is def worth 6.67 even without dtd. Of course, if i thought for a second i could get DTD then i would buy three as presents for my siblings too! Thanks for your response dave. Anyone else got any advice on this? Just to re-iterate, the price in big and bold IS £20, its only the smaller price that states 6.67. The other outdoor games such as junior version, baseball, boule etc, are all 2 for £14 just to add to the pricing confusion!

I am new to this topic, have I understood well that Tesco is giving you back the difference if a product is mispriced (or even double the difference)?
I have a new Tesco opened 2 weeks ago near me and they had things scanning with different prices than what was on the shelf, I said that on the shelf was a different price someone whent there to have a look and they came back telling me it's misspriced on the shelf or it was last weeks offer (it just happened to me with The Capri Sun). They asked if I still want the product and that's it.
How do you get the difference back (I don't want double I just want at least the price that was on the shelf) or it's not every shop that gives back the diffence? (this one close to me it's a Tesco metro)

dtd query. If SEL has 2 prices - eg in my store at moment, Adult croquet set £20 in large then underneath in small, £6.67 each, where do i stand? obviously this is a great one if it plays off but like advice before trying!

    many thanks!
If two different prices are displayed for the same item then the lower of the two must be charged.
Under the Consumer Protection Act 1987 it is an offence to display misleading price indications.

Make sure the SEL is for the correct item and hope it goes through the till at £20 then collect a healthy DTD!

You're entitled to a refund only if you have paid for the item and then find you paid more than the indicated price.

All Tescos have a policy to give double the difference. There are signs displayed stating their price promise which includes dtd. The sign may be a large blue sign behind the Customer Service Desk/tills or may be a small sticky notice on the side of the tills.

There are a significant number of fraudulent staff who will try to defraud you of your correct refund so you do need to be firm and ask for what you are entitled to.

Bought a Large Blue Hexagonal Gift Bag.. SEL.. £1.97 charged £2.50.. However the label did state Large Blue Square bag, but as no other label was on show or square patterned bags I was refunded £1.06.

I've not been successful in dtd on the toothpaste as per ampersands excellent post.. Due to the clauses in the leaflet.. 'Prices correct at time of going to press, Selected stores' etc etc, CS wont dtd ... But it hasnt stopped me from trying it numerous times then getting refunded & keeping the lovely points from the H&B.. The toothpaste is incorrectly priced in my stores anyway on discontinued sel's of £2.49 & £2.51.. & goes through @ £2.48 & £2.68.. So I just take my receipt & leave them all baffled..

Last shop today they didn't stock the toothpaste but spotted Brylcream £1.46 on sel 06/05/08.. Grabbed 4 & was charged £2.93 each (£11.72) refunded dtd £11.76.. So free gel & another £10 of deals..

    I Love Tescos :D
  • There is a fault with the label printer, not sure if it's been rectified yet...
Tesco Mobile Network Sony Ericsson w580i.
If I remember correctly SEL & Scans @ £107.99 but the POS (larger price label on lift up flap which covers the SEL) has it @ £97.99.

Also comes with £20.00 free airtime credit.

Ohhh.. so if I see that they charge me more than it was on the shelf, i should just pay and then go to customer services?

NEVER question it at the point of purchase. Alerting them will mean they can refuse the sale if you haven't already paid, then just remove the mistake. Go to customer services afterwards they are more likely to follow the policy, but as stated above they will try to fob you off..

They do actually follow this, if there are 2 prices displayed, the will charge the lower amount, then remove the mistake!

I once (actually twice) got R&R on an iron which displayed 2 prices. £14.97 and £14.98 was charged the higher price, overcharged by a penny so given R&R.

Guess what iron I'm using today after knocking my bargain morphy richards iron off the ironing board? (PS Morphy Richards was a bargain also found on here, and oh how I miss it but can't grumble really).

PS I miss the good old days and no I didn't abuse R&R like some.
