TescoEmployee wrote:Thats why the 'Tesco have been overcharging people for years - Im just getting my own back' claims always make me laugh - At the end of the day none of the R+Rers want Tesco to get their prices right as much as they say they would as it would take away the need for R+R. People are now actively checking when promotions finish so they can pounce on them to try and get a R+R.
whilst i agree with you for the most part, the posters that i have respect for are the ones that are blatantly honest or those that show consistancy.
Naming names, ben500 and munt have been consistant since the beginning of the threads (possibly since the beginning of time) in advising people to go to trading standards and also in their approach.
Wave after wave of people have since come in and stated that Tesco needs to be taken for all it can be and "think of all the old people", "my granny shops there every week, imagine how much she has been ripped off" etc etc.
There are of course those that are open and honest, stating that there is no reason for doing it other than to make money - fair play, at least you are honest and when the game is eventually up then hopefully they will shrug their shoulders and say that it was good while it lasted.
Lastly there are those with a genuine problem that perhaps was not their fault (his dudeness is a case i seem to remember) that actually do things as a way of redressing the balance (as they see it).
The ones that kind of make themselves look a little silly are those that hide behind the "i want tesco to charge me correctly" excuse for getting stuff for free. I wonder what those people would complain about if every single price in every supermarket was correct!!!Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

Just to wish all my fellow r&r's a Great New 2007 Year; are Tesco's still keeping the r&r policy?
Oh yeah, by the way Nintendo DS game (Top Gun) scanned at £19.99 but stickered £19.94 - full r&r with a smile too!0 -
I can confirm the XBox R&R is absolutely genuine. I'm sitting here with a brand spanking new 360 and Gears of War right now. My very first R&R - and very easy it was too!

Thanks.......Ive never tried to disguise the fact, I do it purely for me and mine.
Although I often use the "little old granny overcharge" to show where Tesco's IMHO are illegally trading........and make little effort to correct it......but never to justify my own actions.Couponing....."every little hurts"

Subject: Overcharge policy query.
This evening, I went shopping in your Tesco Extra branch at Gallions Reach,
Beckton, and amongst other items purchased a Playstation 2 game (Star Wars
Lego) this was promoted on two large posters as being Game of the Week and at a special price of £23.84. However, after I had paid it emerged that I had been
charged £24.97.
I took the item to customer services to ask for a refund under your
advertised overcharge policy. However, after initially being told that I could keep the item and have the cost refunded, I was told after a half an hour wait that this had changed and that the Duty Manager would not refund as the small print at the bottom of the posters stating that the offer ended on the 17th December. I spoke directly to the duty manager (xxxx) who confirmed that this was the case.
As I disagree with this decision (it being my view that it is Tesco's duty to
take down out of date advertising materials rather than my duty to read the
small print on your offers as I shop), before I take the matter further I would
therefore ask you to clarify this and either confirm that the manager's
decision was correct, or that it was not correct and I can retain the game and receive my refund from my nearest branch (Lea Valley).
I can of course provide you with a photo of the poster from the store, the
same poster which as I write is even now still on display in your Lea Valley
store, and a copy of the receipt which the Manager kindly annotated as follows:"Overcharge refused due to offer ended (Stated at bottom of poster) 17.12.06".
May I also stress that your manager and team in Beckton behaved impeccably
throughout and this letter is in no way a complaint regarding the standard of
service they offered, merely regarding a particular decision they made.
Best Regards

Thank you for your email.
I was concerned to learn of the problems you encountered at our Gallions Reach store. I can understand why you are annoyed and I hope you will accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused.
This matter has been addressed with our store, who have confirmed that the offer label was not removed. However, the label does clearly show an expiry date for this offer.
Whilst I can appreciate why you believe that you have been overcharged, I can assure you that this is not the case as the offer was no longer available.
Therefore, I believe that our store management have followed the correct procedure.
I am very sorry for any disappointment caused.
If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us at customer.service@tesco.co.uk quoting X.
Kind Regards

i'll leave this to one of the more experienced posters, but would urge you to fight this as this is a complete !!!! take and they cant get away with that.
They are forever extending offers so the expiry date means nothing.TESCO EVERY LITTLE change to the t&cs HELPS0 -
Bizarrely, I've just had a second response from Head Office to the same query...
*****
Further to my previous email, I was sorry to learn of the difficulties that you experienced with Gallions Reach Extra store and I apologise for any misunderstanding and inconvenience caused.
I apologise that the poster, advertising the promotion for the Star Wars Lego, Playstation 2 game was still being displayed after the promotion was ended. Our staff work hard to ensure that any promotional and advertising material displayed at the store are both current and accurate. Unfortunately on this occasion these posters had been overlooked and were not removed when they should have been.
However, as the poster state the date on which the offer ends and the price you were charged was the correct price for the day on which you purchased the game. I have to agree with [managers name's] decision that our overcharge policy did not apply in this instance.
I appreciate that you may be disappointed in some aspects of this response, however I hope you will provide us with the opportunity to restore your confidence in our operations in the very near future.
Once again, I apologise for any inconvenience caused by this matter and please do not hesitate to contact me if I can be of any further assistance.
Kind Regards

They may as well use out of date labels on all the items if they can get out of it this easy, I bet trading standards would find this interesting.0
