Glad you finally got your letter.

We have no idea what ours should be either. We don't have the original paper work. We can't get it either as it was from Woolwich and Barclays said they only copied over some details when they took over them.

I phoned Barclays today and was just told that I should receive the first letter any day now. The 2nd letter outlining the breakdown of refund will be sent after.
  • I have received a letter today from Barclays similar to what others have received so far. It on referenced my account number but has not referenced the number used in previous communications.

One part of the letter that confused me was this:

"We would normally deal with your complaint within 8 weeks of receiving it. However we have a backlog of PPI complaints which we are urgently dealing with. The Financial Services Authority (FSA) has granted us a Waiver to the time limits set out in their rules allowing us more time to deal with your complaint."

    In the next paragraph:
"In recognition of the delay and your patience we will be offering you a gesture of goodwill no later that 31 August 2011 provided you have held your PPI Policy for more than 30 days. This will include: the Payment Protection Insurance premiums plus interest charged on the premiums to date, together with 8% per annum simple interest. This amount may be lower or higher if you have previously made a claim under your PPI Policy, or if you have had a PPI refund, or if you have incurred arrears charges. We will explain how we have calculated our gesture of goodwill in the offer letter to follow."

Based on the above excerpts, this letter is definitely a mass mailing for account holders, so I just wonder about the backlog the letter referred to. I filed my complaint the first week of February for a PPI on a secured loan from Barclays.

The letter was from the Pentwyn, Cardiff office, is this where the other letters are coming from also?

All these claims will be dealt with and paid out by the end of august, they have been allowed extra time due to the JR,so just hang on in there.

Will they pay out by the end of August , or will we all receive an offer on the 31st August?

Gadgets my letter was exactly the same.

The claims should be settled by the end of august, it could be sooner if they get through them quickly.
The offer is full redress with the 8%.
  • Will they be dragging their heels for people who have already sebt a complint to the Ombudsman?
I originaly made my claim in Nov.2010.
Have been told it could be a year claiming through the ombudsman services.

When I spoke to them I was told that they are planning to get the offer letters out within 4 weeks of sending out the first letter and then payment will be made within another 4 weeks - thus having all these payments paid out by 31st August. Hope this makes sense.

My complaint was the end of Feb.

When I started look into the figures closer, Barclays are not actually paying that much money back. Most of it is writing off future profit.

Is this claim made after or before the cash back was taken. If after were you given 3 options or just one. Love to see the figs if after cash back taken as whilst I have seen figs from lawyers dealing on behalf of clients never seen them direct post Barclay Announcement.
