    The merchants pay 2 months in arrears, much like 90 day payment terms on lots of invoices for goods they have a lead time between sale and settlement - its two fold, one is for budgeting purposes, to allow allocation of funds to settle and the second is to allow the customer to return the items - therefore theoretically stoping the cashback being valid...now in saying that, I have had a number of genuine cases where I have returned items from a web order to a bricks and mortar store and yet still got the cashback (something that wouldnt happen with a voucher).

    Vouchercloud is fine for in person purchases, but web based orders will always be cheaper that vouchercloud and the like will provide - I know for a fact that there better web based vouchers which I can also do with Top Cash back - so that, for me is worth the process of ensuring the commision tracks.

    When used correctly cashback sites are brilliant, over the last 2 years I have made over 20 transactions via Quidco and Topcashback from a variety of retailers and not had one problem. I will always check if there is a voucher code which is the equivalent to the cashback because I would rather have the money off straight away rather than wait for the cashback but I very rarely find any. A lot of companies don't even use vouchers.

    Anybody that has had lots of problems with these cashback sites are either very unlucky or not doing something correctly IMO.

    Thank you for all the responses, apologies for not replying sooner.

    To address any points made:

    - I've used Quidco successfully for 3-4 years. I've never had cashback declined before like this. I have hundreds of pounds of cashback that I have received successfully, this is the first issue I have ever had and any and all previous cashback claims that, for whatever reason, didn't track properly were all successfully paid.

    - In regards to how I can prove they "forgot", I can't, as such. However, if you'd read the original post properly, you would see that I had chased up the claim and was told that they were attempting to rectify it, as I had provided them with all the necessary personal details, account info, transfer info, screenshots, etc. I then received no updates on the claim for several months, so chased it again, it was still "open" and I had not received any further confirmation of it being declined or closed in any way.

    - In regards to the T&C's, I am fully aware of that cashback is not 100% guaranteed. However, if, as a customer, you meet all the criteria required for the claim, I fail to see *how* they can allow companies to decline without giving a proper reason. (I think I neglected to mention in my original post, the initial reason was "play deposit not met" or similar, which is why I was required to send transaction screenshots to prove otherwise). As their reason for declining the claim was clearly based on incorrect information, I was led to believe by Quidcare that it would be "appealed".

    - No other referrers were used. As mentioned previously, I have a lot of experience with using Quidco and am fully aware of how it works.

    - I'd agree that the problem is definitely with PPB rather than Quidco - however, as my transaction was via Quidco, the responsibility lies with them. For whatever reason Quidco will not comment on why the cashback has been declined *despite* proof of transaction being supplied, nor will they tell me PPB's reasoning for declining after receiving the additional proof.

    All in all, I'm not going mental or acting fanatical over Quidco one way or the other - this is the first negative experience I've had amongst many positive ones. My main issue is the way that the claim was "hushed away" and left open for such a long time with no communication, after being told to "be patient".

    Thing is, is it worth the 10% discount you think you might get, when you anticipate any troubles you have with the item? E.g. it's not that easier to sort out if the item has been bought online than when bought from the high street.

    It's nice in theory, but when companies are scrapping their obligations, they're just laughing at the consumer and there's sod all any one can do about it.

    Surely that applies to anything bought via the internet? I'd say you actually have more rights when buying this way, as you can return most items under the DSR, whereas a lot of bricks & mortar shops won't allow you to return goods just because you've changed your mind.

    Oh how I laughed - Redped, indeed you are correct, way more rights under distance selling regs than in person purchases.

    As foe the other part of this thread, I've given up - I've been buying stuff for my new kitchen with the online vouchers and 8% cashback...;)

    I have never argued against that. All I've said is that if the offers are the same, then it is a no brainer to go with a voucher site instead, as you get your discount when you order.

    To be honest you have actually agreed on many of my points. It's Visidigi who won't hear a word said against cash back sites.
