I doubt it as its a solid state device and i don't see anywhere you could update the firmware...that said, i could be wrong...

moreover, no thanks to the op whatsoever, who posted this a week before christmas and now I have to justify to my wife why I just "had to have it" when it arrives... sometmes ignorance IS bliss :rotfl:

A word of caution on these Grundigs. I bought mine a couple of weeks back. Basically I am very pleased with it. However, the customer service is non existent. If something goes wrong you'd be well stranded.
The player has some bugs. Even though they advertise that it will play .avi files, the .avi files recorded by my camera and some other ones cannot be played by the Grundig. There is also a firmware bug that causes the player to repeatedly attempt to play the file and displaying an error saying unrecognized format or something to that effect. The only way to stop the player is to reset it. It will not even turn off.
I logged onto my account and requested support for this issue. It is over 10 days and I havent heard a word from Grundig. I had asked them if there was a firmware update that I can install. I've not received any reply.
So if you do have a problem with the device then it looks like you are on your own.

Plays all my AVI files, camcorder and otherwise. Could you not try converting them to some other format using freeware??

Anyhow, still loving mine-im going into the hospital for a week soon and not hating the thought so much now i've got this to keep me company!!
