Hi imho, my Grundig id due on Tuesday if it turns up I will have a go to see what I can do, although it could be well beyond me I will try!!

Haven't read all the thread, but seeing the recent posts regarding ripping DVDs onto these things, is DVD shrink useful for its ability to reduce the size of the film (removes menus etc, you choose the compression/quality ratio) ?

can this unit play MP4 files and i dont mean Mpeg4/Avi....the likes of apple ipod files and nero digital??

For my Flashtrax Xt player I use PocketDivx (free) which enables you to specify which screen size you want - its very easy to use and very fast too.

Archos vs Grundig, Which is better, apart from the £175 and £99 price tag?

Does this device or the Archos both have timers on them to record off the TV?

Is there a remote switch that can start record and stop it? (I won to use it as a security camera recorder connect to a sensor)

It looks from the pics that its a standard 4:3 format screen...

What do 'widescreen' / 16:9 films look like playing on it ?

Do you lose much with black bars top & bottom ?
