B-itches can be spayed before their first season, but as with all things, there is no 100% correct answer, and some vets prefer to wait until after their first season, especially if a larger (>25kg ish) dog. Other vets are happy to spay pre season - there is no right and wrong.
The thing is that if you do let her have a season, then you have to wait 3 months to let the hormones settle down - otherwise there is a higher risk of complications from surgery & hormone imbalances.
I'd urge everyone to have a good chat with their vet about the pros and cons of pre/post season - yes some vets are set in their ways as we all can be, but most will discuss the options and help you to come to an informed decision.I don't know half of you half as well as I should like, and I like less than half of you half as well as you deserve.
