Nice idea, but not usually workable.

Not to mention the fact that not everyone has access to an ISP issued email address for good reasons. And it's not nice to deny access to MSE to those people.

It's quite possible for forum admins to ban registration using hotmail/gmail and similar webmail services, but there are such a plethora of free services, disposable email domains, private domains, company domains etc, that maintaining a "ban list" in any way that would foil the determined spammer or rule breaker is next to impossible.

The alternative is maintaining a "white list" of ISP domains that are allowed.

Not withstanding the difficulty maintaining such a list and keeping it current; as said, it would unfairly exclude a huge section of MSEs demographic. From someone who only have their company email address, to the person who can't afford BB and has to use the local library for access so doesn't have an ISP based email, and many many other categories.

Anonymous to everyone? Certainly not.

Forum admins of most flavours should be able to view the registration email and IP address of a user.
