I know mainly with teens it's stuff like dope, them tablet things that make you dance a lot can't remember what they're called ggr -
mostly stuff that although cost a bit and make the user a complete tw at but no harm done if used only at weekends etc.
But some kids do move on to the bad stuff like smack and meth.
I fear that while the person is under the influence of drugs or alcohol, they are very vulnerable and anything could happen to them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

I dont know, ask the government, they set the laws and change them as they see fit. Drugs have not always been illegal in this country, and in many round the world they're not. One day they will be legal again
it used to be illegal to be gay, i suppose that was right at the time? and it used to be perfectly ok to drive a car after 20 pints of lager, that was ok then too?0 -
Between the ages of about 17 and 25 i used to consume such vast quantities of illegal substances, based on the media view, im suprised im still alive. A typical weekend evening would see me consume cannabis, speed, (lots of) ecstasy, cocaine, alcohol, sometimes acid, maybe ketamine.... all in the space of a few hours.
What made you give up and do you miss it? I have a friend who used to do a lot of cannabis (every day), some ecstasy, some cocaine, acid by choice if he could get some, mushrooms, well pretty much anything bar injectables (funny how some drug abusers are sniffy about that method of delivery!). I honestly thought that living a much more productive and sober life (left uni 10 years ago and stopped), he would see what a waste those years were but I honestly believe that if he could somehow become a student again (or won the lottery and gave up work), he'd just smoke, snort and swallow his way through life again.
I wonder if we could somehow understand what makes a person give up something in their mind as well as physically, would we have at least some kind of plan for people like the OPs son.0 -
as a former teen (recently) i can understand the pressure he must have had to conform, this wont be something he does alone will it?
get him help? does he want to be helped? if not, i would try to detach myself emotionally, even kick him out because he is using the money you should get in rent to fund it.Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000

I am the same as a few other posters here and to be frank I knew that at one stage I was not in a good place as I had run up £1000's of debt to drugs and wether it was a moment of clarity or just the fact that I realised I needed to grow up I managed to stop taking all drugs completely and can say it was the best thing that I ever done.
I now look back at that period of my life and see the pain I put others through and its not good, I hope your son see's the same as I did and will hopefully grow out of this not so good stage in life.0 -
OP stay strong.
Dehaani - I've seen the vitriol you post too often. Blocking you now, should have done it much earlier.0 -

It has been proven that teens have less fear of danger and will do things mature adults cannot. Just be there for your son in a way that doesn't validate or support his choice.
I really hope he comes back to you soon.

Didn't want to read & run op ((((((big hugs))))) coming out to you xx as the others say you have to sit tight, until your DS realises he has a problem & needs help there is nothing you can do. In saying that, i know of someone who sectioned their relative at 18 as who was threatening to jump out of a window for a fix...... it was not nice the whole procedure, but they are now clean. No one said it was gonna be easy!0
