    what's a CRAs?
btw I believe too that they would process those kind of mails only if they think you have high chances of getting accepted. as I said, they didn't send me like a classic or platinum application but just an initial! so they surely figured out that it might be the only one suitable for me atm!
I'll go tomorrow and ask, I might just as well give it a try and if they decline me, then amen! never tried to apply for barclaycard before so I might as well give it one go with the thing they sent me!

Sorry CRA = Credit Reference Agency

  • Cool,
on my page it doesn't offer me anything but maybe it's because I had my current account running for 7-8 months now and it doesn't update automatically! while I had relationship with barclays for over a year and few months

If an advisor is available to see you they may be able to give you a decision there and then whether it be a yes, no or maybe. If its a maybe you may have to wait a few days for the decision an underwritter will want to do some manual checks.

My wife received an invitation from Barclaycard today. What she and I know is that she already has different credit cards with credit limits of over twice her annual income.
There should be no way that Barclaycard would give her a new card but they won't know that unless she applies.
Its just advertising. If you don't need it just ignore. If you think you need it can you afford to pay when the statements start rolling in?

I'd just use it sensibly and pay off right away! I'm a saver and I really think more than twice before making a purchase! I also earn quite good money for my age (im 21)
I would never spend so much that I know I wouldnt be able to repay in full when the statement comes in. I'd just use it instead of my debit card on some stuff that I'd have bought anyways, keep most of the money in my account or savings to maximize the interest and then pay off as soon as the statement comes in. and so on!
I'd definetely cancel or just leave my vanquis there as the apr is quite indecent
  • guys when it says "household income" .. does that mean that I have to add up what my boyfriend earns too? we live together obviously and share bills and rent! or should I just avoid and put my annual income alone? does it even make a difference?

    Don't apply for Initial.

Go into branch. You might been pre-approved already. Ask if you have a pre-approved credit card. If so, take that one. Most likely a Classic or Platinum. You will also know on the day if you are accepted, declined, or referred. All paperwork is signed on the day if accepted.
  • I think Initial is the only one I could possibly get! lol as also it's the only one they sent me a letter with the application etc
