Why do Tesco insist on giving me money?

I shop at Sainsburys and they are always sending me £12 off vouchers....I love 'em!!0

I always get them when I shop at Sainburys. usually money off if you spend over 20 quid.. youd think they would actually notice that i NEVER spend more than 10-12 tops..What Would Bill Buchanan Do?0

Its to keep you loyal nothing more nothing less. Whilst you may say you will shop there till you die regardless they don't know that. When it comes to groceries most people have very little loyalty towards one shop. Every supermarket is advertising like crazy to draw everyone in, with that £7 voucher they can entice you to return to Tesco rather than go and see what the others have to offer.
If it costs them £7 per month to keep an existing customer than I can assure it will cost around 4 times (atleast) that to entice a new customer. Its far cheaper to ensure your existing client base returns than it is to chase new custom all the time.
The cost is irrelevant, they won't be losing on that £7 voucher hence the minimum spend required it would have been costed to the penny to make sure they can't lose on it. If they made a £5 loss on each of the £7 vouchers issued they would be in strife pretty quickly. What it does do though is ensure you come through the door next week, and you MIGHT spend over the minimum spend for the voucher, simply because you spend £50 anyway, the voucher could be used towards a treat of some sort that you wouldn't normally buy.
Either way, what does it really matter your getting money off your usual shop so stop looking a gift horse in the mouth as they say.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Is this definitely true? I always use the self service as then I don't have to be embarassed about asking for Green Clubcard Points, but it I'm missing out on vouchers, I might need to reconsider.
you dont at tesco or i havent had any yet but the sainsburys ss tills you do get the till spits0 -
I cant understand what is hard to grasp about it, its a simple ploy to keep you going back,0

Unfortunately, no one has yet come close to supplying a credible answer.
You want to get out more as I'm not sure what you appear to be getting out of your "cocky" sounding posts.
You shop regularly at Tesco therefore they want to keep you shopping with them in the future. That is all. Not sure how difficult that is to understand?0 -
Having used both Tesco and Sainsbury "money off a big shop" vouchers, I find I always buy more than the minimum spend just to be sure of the money off. Not that any of it gets wasted. Yes I know, take a calculator next time!
It doesn't necessarily encourage loyalty, I just take advantage of the fact, my shopping bill will be less this week.
On another topic, anyone else noticed how BOGOFs are being replaced by "Buy 3 for price of 2".If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
My mum gets these all the time. I NEVER do.
I've tried everyting to get them to tempt me back. For a while I carried on shoppingat Tesco but not using my Clubcard so they would think I had gone elsewhere. Nothing.
I them tried shopping at Asda for a couple of weeks and doing every third shop at Tesco. Nothing.
I've now got the right hump and shop at Aldi whenever I can only going to Tesco for Coca-Cola and Wiskas. Still nothing.
They obviously don't care a jot whether I shop with them or not, but my mum still keeps getting her money off vouchers."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0 -
You've said yourself that you're now "so well stocked". So this means that you're not going to go to Asda/wherever else for the next few months as you have no need. You might give Tesco themselves a bit less money, but they've ensured you're not giving it anywhere else.
You also might think "oooh, it's free, I'll buy extra..." and I'm sure you'll claim you haven't, but you've said yourself that your cupboard is full so clearly have.Murphy's No More Pies Club #209
