Madeira, Spain? You'd better tell Cristiano Ronaldo he's being playing for the wrong national team.

Looking at the link for Spanish prices Madeira is much cheaper than Spain for cigs - €25 for 200 a couple of weeks ago.

Without trying to be pedantic. Lanzarote, Tenerife et al are Spanish islands in the Madeiran Archipelago. We are all aware (I hope ) that Madeira is in fact a Portugese island. It seems however that some don't know their geography.

    Feel a bit silly now?;)

4.25 Euro for 20 in a Tabac on Costa del Sol. This is cheaper than the airport shops.

Not at all Madeiran archipelago are the islands of Madeira and Porto Santo and the few other islands around these two islands.

    Tenerife etc are Islas Canarias.

I bought 200 Marlbro gold original on a credit card in a tobacco shop in the end. Unfortunately they billed me in Sterling on my 'zero fee' credit card which was supposed to used mastercard rates. Same problem as here.

I have lost the receipt, so can't see the Euro cost or the conversion rate but the 200 cigs cost me £34.96. If Marlbro Gold original are the same as Marlbro Gold Duro they were €3.85 or €3.65 if they are Gold Touch. Presume 100'S are something different.

Don't buy them last minute at the airport as they are more expensive. You'll not get "duty free" flying back to the UK, only duty paid.

The Tabacs will be cheaper and may have offers on depending on how many packs you are buying (free vodka/whisky etc.).

    Prices found here:

I have only seen a small bottle of vodka or equivalent on packets of products i didnt recognise.
Up till last year i always got some lighters thrown in, this year i got 1, so i guess times are hard for them,i also see on the link that smoking tobacco has gone up again since 4 weeks ago.

It varies, but since the last increases more offers have been on Lambert and Butler and other UK brands as they are quite pricey now. Usually it's for 4 x 200's or 6 and even 8 x 200's.
So it is possible to get say 2 bottles of Smirnoff when buying 12 x 200's (2 x 6 packs, they are generally selotaped together with the vodka/whisky etc).
Well worth asking if they are not on show as some Tabacs will give you a bottle (even if just a local brand), although some won't - hit and miss. In larger resorts like Benidorm, you should have no problem finding a Tabac with offers on.

2 weeks ago in Benidorm if you bought 1 persons "allowance" ie 16 packs of 200 lamberts and 6 packs of 500kg of Golden Virginia the Tabacs were giving away hard back suitcases hand luggage size. Or if you bought 6 packs of 200 lamberts they gave you a 70cl bottle of smirnoff vodka, not bad offers if you were buying any way.

They are 3.85 a packet at the moment, Marlboro Gold have gone down a couple of Euro recently.
Massive differences on rolling tobacco between Tabacs and the airport in Alicante at the moment. 67 E in the shops and 84.50 at the airport! :(
