Are duty free cigs cheaper in spain?

Options
Someone has asked me to buy them 300 gold marlbro original duty free cigarettes for 30€, would it be significantly cheaper duty free at a small airport in Spain (Reus) or just finding the cheapest locally? (or do him a favour and forget) ;)

Cigarettes are cheaper in Tabacs than at the Airport but they are more than 30 Euros now.

Don't buy them last minute at the airport as they are more expensive. You'll not get "duty free" flying back to the UK, only duty paid.

The Tabacs will be cheaper and may have offers on depending on how many packs you are buying (free vodka/whisky etc.).

    Prices found here:

I would have a look at them prices and have a look in duty free when you get there. 200 L&b in gatwick was £25.00 so might be cheaper in duty free after all.

You can't get duty free flying to and from Spain, only duty paid - as others have pointed out. Only in some of the Spanish islands such as those in the Madeiran archipelago.
  • Cigarettes are not cheaper in the Airport in Spain. It may be cheaper to buy them in Gatwick and take them to Spain and bring them back.
The Spanish Government are putting up the prices to bring them in line with other Countries and they always go up in January.

This doesn't seem to be getting through to some people.

The EC allows people to buy cigarettes at the local duty rate when travelling to and from there. Duty is higher here than in Spain therefore cigarettes in Gatwick will be more expensive than in Spain.

You cannot get "Duty Free" because that is limited to people travelling outside the UK and EU and is also limited to 200 fags, unlike Duty Paid where there is (theoretically) no limit to the amount you can buy.

Madeira, Spain? You'd better tell Cristiano Ronaldo he's being playing for the wrong national team.

Looking at the link for Spanish prices Madeira is much cheaper than Spain for cigs - €25 for 200 a couple of weeks ago.
