Ok, so first interview of the day is done and dusted and I think it went well, but it was so different to any other interview I have been to I'm not too sure.
It was very informal and because of the nature of the business we had to start the interview standing in a quiet area as I got there at the same time as the workers took a break. We then moved to the canteen area to finish the interview. They spent most of the time talking and didn't ask many questions so I had to make sure that I got relevant points across at where possible. I had the dreaded question of how much money I was looking for and as I am looking to work in the retail area rather than the finance industry, but I told them the minimum I would expect and they said they would be offering more than that.
I have to e-mail later to let them know if I am still interested, any questions that might have come to mind and details of who they can obtain refernces from. They are seeing a couple of other people this afternoon and will let me know very early next week.
So now I have to concentrate on this afternoons second interview and then wait, but I am very impatient so its going to be a long weekend, especially as yesterday I would have said that I really didn't want this mornings job as I had my heart set on the other job. But now having met them and spoken about the job I am in two minds.June £25 a day 850.94/750

*pops out of lurkdom to wish you good luck for this afternoon* - I have been following along but not posting
and was reading your old thread too.
that's one of the things about interviews - sometimes you think you really want the job then meet the people and run for the hills afterwardsand sometimes it's completely the other way round.
re the Access thing - seems to be a very standard thing to put in a job spec. I have never had to use it, went on a course a little while ago and it is not dissimilar to Excel. If you have managed in Word and Excel I think you would pick it up fine, and they are unlikely to expect you to be an expert from the off, if they were it would probably be a different job. I would say something like, I haven't used it in previous roles but I am happy to learn and have been able to adapt well in the past (giving example).
Where I work now, I had used the right software but in a different way to the new place. My boss had put it on the job description but didn't understand how/why it was used so our conversation was very brief! She then asked the IT dept to set me a test, which I couldn't do, but I ended up having a long chat with both of them in detail about what I had done and how, and got the job. So waht I am trying to say is sometimes people don't know why they are asking for something they just know they must! :rotfl:
I'm rambling now - hope it all goes well and you get offers of jobs very soon :T0 -
Thank you so much for the good wishes, which must have worked because I got the job :j:j:j
In complete shock as they offered me the job there and then and talked salary as well, which was a bit lower than I had hoped for, but they have offered to reduce the hours but keep the salary the same. They said I was by far the best candidate for the job and they don't normally offer the job at the interview, but didn't want to mess me around having to wait all weekend.
Think I am in need of a few drinks tonight as celebration :beer:June £25 a day 850.94/750

Thanks all.
Yes it is the job I wanted, although after this mornings interview I was a little confused as to which one I wanted. But meeting the director today and getting on so well with her and the people I was introduced to I'm confident that this is the job for me. But I'm going to think about it over the weekend, talk to OH about it and make a decision so I can let them know monday, after all the sooner I start the sooner I get paid and start making big inroads into the debt.
Still not sure it has fully sunk in yet, I dreamt about getting the job and what it would mean to us, but never really believed that I would get it.June £25 a day 850.94/750
