Lost friend due to lending money
Comments

Thanks for all your replies, the sum was only £500, repayments £20 per month which is what she could afford. Not that difficult to make. I should have been more assertive in the begining, my fault.0
-
£20 per month, she was definitely taking advantage! Get the balance off her and forget about it. You certainly don't need to be friends with a leech.0
-
If you don't need the money back just write it off and put it down to experience. If you don't care about preserving the friendship just write that off, too.0

The Silly women!
Youve been a good friend by helping her out with the lump sum she needed, and £20 per month is not really that much by way of repayment. I would be very annoyed myself if i had to keep on asking for my own money to be paid back to me, she has a real cheek.
You did the right thing by telling her she was taking the !!!!, she is!
Someone, somewhere on these boards has the following signature, and its so very true!!
If you lend a friend a tenner and never see them again, it'll be the best tenner you ever spent!!
When she does give the money back, accept with a thank you and comment that you can now put it in Your holiday fund!Everyday im shufflin' Proud Padder ~ All Hail The Power of Pad0 -
You have no reason at all to feel guilty. You helped out a friend when they were having difficulties and they repaid you by treating you with a complete lack of respect and by basically abusing the fact that you are a nice person and didn't want to push them on it. The only one who should feel guilty is your friend - but I doubt they are doing!0
-
Do not feel guilty, £20 a month is a fiver a week, I really doubt you'd have been stealing the food from her mouth asking for it if she's in a position to be thinking about holidays.
I really can't see how people who borrow from friends can "forget" to make repayments and not be embarassed about it.
I hope you get it back.:j BSC #101 :j0 -
It doesn't sound like you've lost a friend so much a rid yourself of someone who didn't deserve your kindness.0
-
You lent somebody £500 almost 2 years ago, and they have repaid £180
During the last 2 years, how much do you think this person has spent on, alcohol, smoking, socialising, mobile phone, sky tv, no t to mention holidays !
If I were you I would ask for the remaining £320 now - you do not need to justify why you want this (also with £320 you could use this on something, whereas £20 a month will just get absorbed within "stuff" and you will not feel the benefit).
You will either get the money (good news), or not (not so good news - but at least you know where your friendhsip stands, and this is probably a relatively small price to pay for that knowledge).
Good luck!0 -
