gap took me off burger jobs as my photo was taken from a cctv still and distributed around stores in the midlands apparently lol so i couldnt do a job for that client any more,

How can that be acceptable? I would be very unhappy if my photo was passed around.

    Hi All
Whitelabel - what's the other fieldwork that you do?
I wouldn't be happy if my photo got passed around either. Surely that's against some rules? How did they find out you were a mystery shopper?
I signed up to one the other day who have loads of orientation stuff to do. They also screened me out of some of them completely because I pressed the wrong button. They seem very specific with timings to the second too. I can understand why, but how do you do it without people noticing?

I'm loving the new GFK gizmo where you can opt out of visits until a certain date. I won't be seeing the visits in Hull, Rotherham, Settle, York or Barnsley for another year or getting flamin' alerts for them as I live in Leeds. Hallelujah!!!!
  • If anyone has done a drinks audit/POS check for the unnameable company today, please could you send me a pm? Struggling with something on the input form.... probably being stupid but need some help!

matthew luck if the shop is local go and get a little charm booklet as it lists all charms and prices so easier to check prices against ebay.

also as the first lot of visits started last week i would wait a week or so before listing. also you have checked completed listings, check current as well as if theres lots of that bracelet listed atm they may not sell as high as previously.

i have 5 watchers on my charm but no bids :(

bloody heavens have opened and i need to go do an audit :(

Compliance checks, audits, availability of products, merchandising - anything from straightening / fully stocking a particular line of products in a supermarket from the stock room to fully rebranding 15 branches of a bank that were taken over by another, anything except sales and demonstration work really. The audits are a mixture of covert and overt but I try and avoid the "can i have a receipt please and a set meal" type fake situations that give you away as a mystery shopper where possible, not so much a problem given i cant do the gap burgers any more ;)

Timings are either on my multi lap g shock watch, phone, dvr recorder for camera work or a combination of the above. Some people try and text, but I guessed that could look a little too obvious I started my phone in the queue and having put it on silent already, had a fake conversation on the phone asking if the other person "wanted me to get them some food". id terminate the call as I reached the counter and was able to set the next timing point ;)
Acting as naturally as possible, not being "overly" nice and leading or prompting staff in situations but responding to the staff in a positive way where necessary and keen observation with attention to detail are the key things of found.

Im male, not too old ;), so think that def helps in some cases as dont fit the typical expected look of a ms shopper.
As for the burger photos issue, well, it was blatently obvious although I did my best to convince them instore that I wasn't when the cleaner came out to clean my table and talk to me about being a shopper while I sat down :rotfl: and as for how, well the timings you put in, get checked by the managers on their cctv system to identify the shopper and also to check the details reported were accurate.

I remember giving one store a particularly bad report, filthy store, huge queues and rude staff ( although they were under staffed) they clearly were poor , I dont ever fabricate reports, and their poor report obviously prompted the manager to distribute the photo to other stores in the franchise group to warn them. As i hadnt been to this one particular store before, and didnt recognise the staff, there was no other way they could have known. I reported it to gap after who looked in to it, and told me thats what most likely happened.

I have enough to worry about in life to be honest without not doing burger jobs so didnt let it bother me or take it further. Had Gap sacked me completely, that might have been a different story. I still have fun now if I stop off for a burger on occasion and ask for a receipt though ;)

Got 10/10 for my petrol visit yesterday. Not sure why I feel so pleased but is better than an RE proofreading query:rotfl:

The one I did today was a little interesting partly due to the sudden hailstorm outside but also as you had to get part of a food offer ie BOGOF and see what the assistant said. I brought it along and he told me that although it had a sticker on it, it shouldn't have done and wasn't meant to be a BOGOF. So I got my one item.
