I did - NHS towels are crispy!
They have lots of baby blankets and baby towels in the hospital, at least here they do. Also depends on how long you end up staying as to whether you need it or not.
I think it's nice to have a little blanket for baby to come home with
I've always like the winnie the pooh fleece ones (good job as OH seems mad on it lol) and sometimes on ebay you can get the fleecy ones and have them embroidered with baby's name.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

I would definitely take your own towels. And although they will have blankets for babies they are not particularly nice so if you can take one in then do so xThank you to everyone for sharing competitions!0

Oh, hospital bag advice needed  still not finished it :rotfl:
Do i need a towel for baby? and Do i need to take a blanket for baby in hospital and then another one for bringing her home???
Hope everyone is having a pain free day
why would you need to bath the baby? Mine are usually about 2 weeks old before they are bathed.. it is recommended you leave the vernix as it moisturises the babys skin.. so unless they are covered in poo they dont really need to be bathed. Some hospitals will show you how to bath the baby but here you have to specificially ask and they do have their own towels.
I take 2 blankets anyway.. they are often sticky and mucusy and might just sick up the mucus so a spare always helps.Do you have to pack towels?
For yourself? Unless you want to have your skin exfoliated with a crunchy nHS towel Id say yes.. though I LOVE NHS towels.. sanding off my skin feels soooooooo good!
The remainder of my mothercare order arived today.. and I appear to have an extra jumbo box of nappies... which I havent been charged for.. so I have 6 packs of nappies for £8..
We are lowering Squeaks mattress today.. I have been aking OH to do it for about 2 months.. and he has put it off... this morning she fell out so he feels really guilty now for not doing it sooner and is away upstairs before she goes down for a nap!! I dont think he believed she would fling herself out!
Finished a couple more cardies for the baby so I can fling those in with the bedding at the weekend when that gets washed..
Best go dress a small pink thing.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
Our hospital makes you bath the baby to show you can do it before you can leave! Think this is only for first time mums as they didn't make me with DS2Thank you to everyone for sharing competitions!0

It is optional here.. they prefer to just kick you out ASAP.. a lot are discharged from the delivery ward rather than even transfer to postnatal wards!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
ive packed a baby towel but i doubt i'll use it til i get home, infact i dont know why ive packed one at all as ive never bathed either of mine in hospital before, a friend who had a section though bathed hers in her room, but she was in for 3 days, so i'll keep it...just incase...i've packed an oldish bath towel for me, cos i always jump straight in the bath as soon as ive made my introduction to babbaSkint, but happy (ish):p0

I was home less than 24 hours after a section.. amuses me they keep some people in for so long! Athough I think I may be so obnoxious they kick me out well befoe they would consider anyone else going lol.. it pays to be stroppy at times
I think Squeak was 10 days before she had a bath.. DD3 was 5 days but she had a massive gunged up clot of dried blood in her hair which was absolutely gross.. so I bathed her purely to get rid of that.. DS1 was bathed as he arrived.. well, after they had washed his stomach out.. as he was caked head to foot in meconium and he was stinky!LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
PP my Squeak did that too... Oddly enough that was what motivated my OH to do it as well!
He had to drill extra holes in it though as it's only got one cot position then it's meant to be a bed, and there's no way she was ready for a bed.
I've stripped my bed today and hoping the weather stays fine, nothing like getting into a freshly made bed with line dried sheetsIt rained overnight but seems to be cheering up now and it's breezy although there are some clouds about.
Squeak's asleep, older girls are out again, can't take Squeak out although I wanted to because her buggy had 3 destroyed tyres, OH kindly ordered some more but exploded one of them  he blew it up with a compressor... he says he didn't exceed the PSI but hmmm... over kill, bike pump would have done! Still, it was nice of him, and for 5 minutes the buggy was lovely to push lol.
Anyway he tried to repair one of the old inner tubes with a puncture repair kit but it hasn't worked, just waiting now for the bloke to send out a replacement tyre.
I have got a stick buggy someone gave me but it's tiny with no basket so no good for the shopping we need to get, plus I really shoukld clean the fridge (it's full of dead stuff, had a bad week lol) before I fill it up.
Hope Winnie is OK. Maybe they kept her in for monitoring.
I know my 16 year old cousin was home within 6 hours of having her first, My shortest stay was 5 days my longest was 2 weeksMum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Cot now lowered... and I have 4 boxes of OHs gibble to find a home for .. it may well get shoved under my bed which means rehoming some of my stuff.. slide a few more tiles lol.
Boxes for breast pump and baby monitor located.. wondered where they were.. cot mobile taken off the cot... and the boxes of nappies decanted elsewhere and the boxes can be filled with stuff and stashed under DD5s bed with the rest of the between size clothes.. there are so many!!!!
Delain... have you not got the slime stuff in the wheels? It is definitey well worth having for preventing punctures etc.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0
