I'm a brunette too and had stitches i bled loads for the 1st week after the birth and went through a tonne of pads

i had a bath after my stitches were done and had forgot my shower gel so asked my mam to get me some (while i was still in the hospital) and she bought me some but it was the most heavily scented radox stuff you could imagine and it stung almost as bad as getting the actual stitches, does anyone know of a nice neutral shower gel that i can pack in my bag please?????

I know this sounds scruffy but i dont use soap well just on my hands and face but not down there because i think it makes me smell funny TMI i know sorry lol

You're not meant to put soap down there for that precise reason :) it strips away your body's natural balancing whatsits, so it overcompensates, causing the smell! Really water is all you need, or a special feminine wash if you really don't feel clean with just water.

Sanex do some nice ones, or there is a range called 'Simple' which are unfragranced. Hope that helps!

I only know that from TV :rotfl:You actually noticed it yourself so more brownie points to you :rotfl:

It was on embarrassing bodies recently as well, it's true though. I don't use soap and I don't think I smell dodgy. Also wearing cotton pants helps according to doctor whatsherface :o

Oh hell I'm fed up. Went to my doctors and ended up in hospital with suspected pre eclampsia. Turns out I just have a really bad cold which messed with some of their readings. Yay for not having pre eclampsia but boo for feeling like absolute !!!!!. Baby is 3/5 palpable (means he's moving his head into my pelvis) so he should hopefully stay in there until after I'm better :j hope everyone here is ok :)

Hi All, just checking in. That sleepsuit was part of a three pack from Next, I bought it in the January sale though so probably OOS now!

My TENS machine (mamatens) was absolutely useless - I threw it across the room after the only thing it did was make my back vibrate which was just annoying when I was in pain!

On the subject of the maternity pads, Im on my third pack now. Am sore down there due to stitches so won't be switching to normal pads just yet. Bleeding is not as bad as I thought it would be (touch wood) but I still need to change the pad every couple of hours or I start feeling uncomfortable.
Disposable knickers were a waste of time and the belly warmer ones I bought in primarni have come in very handy

I will get around to doing a birth story soon enough, it was very positive (seems like most of the ones on that thread are a bit scary!)

Baby girl is doing really well, breastfeeding like a little star - she does like to be held all the time though - but she's cute enough that we don't mind letting her get away with it! Still not named as yet - I always knew she would just be called Oi!

Massive labour vibes to Abby, Smileyface and Sequeena!

Someone be a temporary midwife and clarify something.....

Can you lose your mucus plug even after you've had a midwife sweep you? Because I assumed that by them sweeping they'd dislodge it. Now (tmi time) BEFORE my sweep I had a nice large dollop of mucus with a green tinge but it wasn't like "jelly". I assumed though due to my ignorance it was the plug. Now since the sweep I've had the dreaded brown plague which quite frankly freaks me out. You know the old blood thing. And just walked back from dropping Fluffy at the grandmas and I'm pretty sure something just appeared resembling what you get when you google image "mucus plug". Now, it was light than the previous dark stuff which I find confusing as I'd have thought you'd get lighter mucus then darker

But hey, I'm only on my first child so I don't know! And im not ringing the ward up for a discussion regarding different shades and consistencies of mucus

Oh but this was DEFINITELY like gel/jelly

Abbey I'd love to help but I'm clueless. Perhaps google images if you can stomach it? It sounds positive one way or the other. Sadly I've been googling the very same thing. Doesn't look like what I had was the plug :-(.

Sequeena I hope your cold is feeling a bit better today? Yay for not having Pre eclampsia!

Apricot good to hear from you. Nice to know you're getting on so well and I look forward to hearing her name once it's decided!
