I have been very emotional, but then I have been suffering quite badly recently with my depression so that probably explains it a bit more than just being pregnancy hormones.

I hate feeling like a useless dollop of lard too... I am so sick of being in pain and having nothing nice to wear. I am sick of not being able to go out because I can't walk. I am sick of not sleeping properly.... so yes I seem to spend a fair amount of time blubbing over nothing... then I get cross with myself for blubbing and that makes me worse. And the worst thing anyone can say to me is 'How are you?'.. that is cue for instant blubbing!

Bizarrely despite being referred during 4 pregnancies I have NEVER had a physio appointment before..

I can't get in the shower again so that depresses me and makes me blub too... :( I just want to be clean and not in pain and dressed nicely..

Definitely with you on this one.
Something that is really making me a blubbing wreck at the minute is my exzema, it has been getting so much worse all through my pregnancy. I cant sleep at night because I am so itchy, having a bath or shower leaves my skin in agony and nothing seems to be easing it.
Poor OH cant do anything right but he is being so patient.

Just wondered if anyone could give me any advice. I seem to have gone from one pregnancy extreme to the other.

I saw the MW on Friday and she measured my stomach at 30 weeks (I was 24+4). She said she normally doesn't start using the tape measure until 25 weeks, but I looked "big" so she would. From being worried that the baby was small again, she's now mildly concerned about how big he is. We have the next growth scan at 28 weeks but MW said she thought I needed to see the consultant earlier. Is an exceptionally large baby an indicator of anything?

Secondly, she wants me to see a therapist. The last 5 weeks or so, I have really begun to find this pregnancy very hard, physically and emotionally. The thought of having to drag it all back up with a stranger doesn't appeal at all though...any ideas? :(

  • redwood have you had a GTT i think thats the main worry if a baby seems unusually large if you have gestational diabetes it can cause the baby to gain excess weight. i wouldnt worry too much about tape measures though its been said loads on here that there not acurate it can depend on which midwife is measuring which way baby is lying etc etc.

cant do links sorry (coz im carp with comps lol) mothercare bras if you look in catalogue on page 5

RWB.. large babies often are associated with diabetes. If you don't feel up to seeing a therapist say no.. or say you will reconsider after this one arrives safely. I know just where you are coming from about not wanting to dredge stufff up.. that stuff that has the thinnest layer of dust that you try not to disturb too often.. the MW that inflicted herself on me tried sending me too.. I think counselling is ridiculous (if it works for you.. fine..).. talking about stuff doesn't 'fix' it for me, there are some things I don't want to talk about or even think about so why would I want to see someone about it? mine was concerned I didn't get any 'help' after having PTSD, she didn't even get to finish her sentence before I said no lol..

Other than killing the person who gave me the PTSD there is nothing that will make it better.. that might not either but I'd like to try all the same... I'd like to slit him open and drag out his insides and stamp on them until he is dead... not much thought has gone into this. lol. There are other thoughts I have had like lowering him slowly into a vat of acid but nothing quite seems to make him suffer as much as he did me..

*sigh* why is life so complex?

Well it may make you more stressed, especially when you know what the problem is and don't really need telling again...And yes I think if she tells you how to go through labour you might just end up screaming back that you are on your 10th and know what you are doing!!

I think its digusting that you've had to wait 23 weeks, I mean I know it differs from area to area as to waiting times but I'd have thought the fact that you have a hernia would make you a bit more of a priority as its going to restrict how hard you can push?

Go to the appointment in protest ^^

that and my dead back and my lack of stomach muscle and the hernia causing problems..

I know how far I can't open my legs and how far I can't lift my feet. I know I can't walk more than 20m without being in agony. Being told about it won't help.

This is my 10th I think I know labour well enough lol..

The only thing the MW suggested was she might be able to have a word in the shell like of the consultant and get me some stronger painkillers.

So no... it won't be useful will it? Thank you.

Amazing isn't it.. it takes them so long to bother getting me an appointment (23 weeks!!!!) it isn't worth going.. I was supposed to go with Squeak too and I am still waiting on that referral too.. actually.. this might be from that one!.. in which case it has taken 18 months to get an appointment! Even better.

Summer hols here anyway so it will be exceptionally difficult to go to any appointment without trailing at least 4 children with me.. which has probably just made up my mind!

The more I think about it the angrier I get... and I am furious when other people wait a day or 2 for an appointment when I have waited this long.. in fact I find I am angry just typing this... why should other people get appointments thrown at them willy nilly yet my GP requested a referral and I still don't get one!

I am also in the process of buying stuff for DD4 which OT SHOULD be providing.. yet that referral was supposedly sent 2 years ago and we have heard nothing! (I am stroppily taking this up with the physio on the 16th)
