Car accident- strange one...
Guys I was driving my jeep today into some flats, it is a road that leads to the flats, as you drive in there is a sharp bend, there was a transit van people carrier coming from that blind corner and she didn't even slow down and she scrapped past my jeep ; ( i pulled right over and she didn't, if she had there would have been no issue as there is room for both vehicles if she had taken the correct line when entering the bend....
Now I had white paint marks on my handles of my jeep and on the rear wheel panel, when I parked up she came running up saying it was my fault, I couldnt believe it...
I immediately pointed at her vehicle explaining she was over the wrong side of the road and there was enough room for both vehicles, she only had a slight bit of my paint on her very last panel of her van..... its clear she had the wrong line, a witness also came from a parked car and also agreed that she didnt slow down when cornering and was in the middle of the road.... when she heard the witness she got very nervous and said that she works for a charity and they can't afford these issues..... she wouldnt give me her insurance details!! she said 'cant we agree to disagree and leave it'..... she then left the scene.... I took pictures of her van and her positioning on the road. I went online and saw that I could obtain her insurance details for a fee of 3.75, I called her insurance company and explained what happended, they ask to get a quote for my damage, they said they need to send her (charity firm) a claim form to see whether they contest it.... Surely her manager would not contest it? she may do but as I have witnesses surely she cant stand a chance? I just don't wanna end up contacting my insurance company etc....

Unlikely they can contest it, especially when you remind them that she left the scene of an accident where witnesses were involved.0

Was this on a public road, or a private road that the public has general access to (i.e not gated) ???"You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

Good point. Depending on your answer will depend on whether you should report it to the police or not. If details havn't been exchanged then you are obliged to report it within 24 hours under the RTA. This could apply even on private land which has un-restricted public access.PLEASE NOTEMy advice should be used as guidance only. You should always obtain face to face professional advice before taking any action.0 -
Charity shops are finding it really difficult to get insurance because of litle shunts like these. That's why she paniced. No excuse though.
You still need to tell your insurer for information only, and stress it's not a claim.0 -
When I got rear ended the person that hit me put a divert on their mobile so i couldn't contact them to get their insurance details (he left only his mobile number). Fortunately a witness had got the reg number so i gave only that to my insurance company and the claim was successfull. No need to pay anything extra.0

ajp,
You have done exactly the right thing by contacting her insurance and making your claim through them.
Although that's no guarantee it will come out in your favour.
They might be a charity, but you are not, so stick to your guns.
I would ring the police and ask if the accident should be reported, you have nothing to lose or hide, and it covers your back.
As others have said, you should also tell your insurance company, strictly for information.
Unfortunately, come renewal time they may still view your risk as increased, but there's nothing you can do about that.
There have been cases where people in your position have not told their insurance, but the other insurance company does, leaving you in an embarrassing position when your company gets in touch along the lines of: "You didn't tell us about this, did you?"0 -

Sorry, I beg your pardon? The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -

have you ever posted something on here that makes sense? all you seem to do is reply with a smiley and some text that questions something but doesn't even explain what the hell you're on about.
I'll do this in red crayon for you.
she was involved in a road traffic accident involving another car. She left the scene without leaving her details and a witness saw it all.
which part of it did you fail to understand? or is it the simple concept behind it? the fact that you're telling them she left the scene of an accident etc etc... Just because YOU think that it's not right doesn't mean that it won't kick them into action to get it sorted.0 -

Here I'll post this one in green, because red is a little too hard to read:
No, she did not leave the scene without leaving any details.

I agree with NeverAgain. Do an accident report with the police and tell your insurer, making sure you insist it's a "no fault" accident. Cross your tee's and dot your i's and if it comes to a dispute you'll be seen as the person who did the right thing without trying to evade responsibility.0
