Nintendo WII wanted (merged threads)

apparently Argos cancel any reservations if it's a Wii Fit!

I've tried reserving this with Argos - it appears as in stock at one store (you can check through different stores near your postcode) this time got the reservation number but no email confirmation.

I've since seen it stated on a website (not argos) that they cancel them after... why not just write a little note saying this can't be reserved!?!??!?!??

grrrrrrrrrrr.. just a waste of everyone's time!

Other half wants to get the 2 kids (girls 5&6) a wii and also the keep fit for herself.

If !!!!! I can get one, WHAT EXACTLTY do I need to get ?, consoles, controls, bats, guns, etc etc etc..

It dosn't seem as easy as just buy a wii and off you go, play sonic, have a game of golf, do keep fit etc..

Any advice on whats needed as a minimum and costs etc appreciated.

Hi Basically if you just buy the Wii console (rrp£179), this comes with everything you need, one 1 remote (handset) a numchuck and Wii Sports (all the games ie tennis, bowling etc)

Again if you buy just the Wii Fit (rrp£69)this comes with everything you need.

The only extra Id advise that you buy is Wii Play (rrp£29). This is a game that comes with an extra handset (rrp£30 may as well get WiiPlay as its cheaper AND you get extra games with it) so you can play doubles at tennis etc. Wii Play also has some excellent games that will appeal to your kids, (my little-un is 3 years old and he loves it)

I'd also advise you buy sooner rather than later as there could be a drought on again around Xmas like last year.
The Wii Console and Wii Play seem to be in stock in most places but the Wii fit is really hard to get hold of. I have however been really lucky getting one from Zavvi.co.uk for us, and one off Amazon for my Mum. Hunting for a Wii Fit is hard and you have to spend ages just refreshing bookmarked pages and hope that one pops in.

I'm thinking of buying one and it seems that Game have the best deal at the moment.

Wii Console (inc Wii Sports) with Super Swing Golf, Carnival and Big Beach Sports for £199.99
or
Wii Console (inc Wii Sports) with Tiger Woods 09, Carnival, Mario & Sonic and Rayman 2 for £239.99

Also don't buy an extra controller. Buy Wii Play and you get a free controller

Anyone find anything better?

carnival, big beach sports can be found elsewhere (like play.com) for cheaper.. the best Game deals are the console with wii fit or mario kart as both are hard to get hold of.
the second deal (with tiger woods, mario and sonic, and carniva; ) is pretty good, unless you managed to get last weeks offer at Morrisons where you got them three games for £15 each! big savings!
I got my console from Woolies for £159.99 recently, idk if that deals still valid.

Asda have a load of wii games for cheap if you find the stand alone console elsewhere.

Wii play is a must have because of the free controller. Bother Asda and Play.com have them at £27.99 which is cheaper than most places.

Game generally price their bundle games at higher prices than a lot of other places though.. so if you shop around, you'll find better deals im sure.

The 'free Mario Kart' deal at Game.co.uk looks the best to me. I have started a thread on the Quick! Grabbit board about it (before I saw this thread) because they are likely to be out of stock of that offer quite quickly.

Can anyone tell me if the Wii Fit works in all languages ie: you can choose any via the console?

I've just brought a wii fit in Paris (I'm here until Monday morning) I know it's compatible for UK but just realised that while the manual is in french (I don't really need that though so don't mind) but I just want to check that I'll be able to play it and read the instructions etc in English.

I only got the console recently so I've not checked things like language choice.

If I can't use it then I need to take it back to the shop - so I need to find out in the next 24 hours!

Not 100% sure but I think you'll be ok. Check out these links. I think its down to the Wii console as to what language you set it too. Hope this makes sense.

There are no language problems. Wii fit from France, 4 things
1) Manual for wii ft board is in 11 languages 1st being English.(this has how to look after/trouble shooting problems etc)
2) Glossy Game Manual is in French but English version can be down loaded from Nintendo site
3) Board uses batteries so NO plug adapter needed.
4) AS your console will be setup for English (mine is & I live in France). All games with English on them will automatically play the English version. Wii fit- is a 5 language version inc English.

As for Germany, should be the same only gaming manual my only be in German.

Both .de & .fr have all your UK login details/address/card details so shouldnt be a problem using it. Just double check it is coming from Amazon not a market place. I checked both sites yesterday & they had stock.
If you go to site a type Wii fit , it should come then click on basket sign and should be same layout as UK.
