Warning ! Supermarket Chaos Expected

1. I have noticed that next week ASDA Tesco Sainsburys are keeping their stores open 24 Hours - normally Xmas week they close Midnight/ open 6AM to allow shelves to be re-stocked without customers getting in the way and slowing down the process !
Several years ago they tried this and end result was huge checkout Q ( operators will be thin on ground) with people complaining about empty shelves at 1AM AND shelves NOT RE-STOCKED properly by next morning. (perhaps Boots advert with wrecked shelves is a prediction LOL) Do they never learn from mistakes ?

2. Remember Christmas Eve is on Sunday this year and stores only trade for 6 hours so avoid food shopping at all costs on that day as Checkout Q,s will be huge and stores packed (and greedy stores open until Midnight on Saturday= empty shelves)

Of course there will be chaos, the shops shut for a day, so every begger and its dog goes out shopping on christmas eve to panic buy 20 loaves of bread, 60 litres of milk and 5 gallons of water. I hate it when my normal shopping day co-insides with the few days before christmas.

  • Hope I will not start a Nationwide panic but they are shut Boxing Day as well (and 1st Jan )

We found best time to do weeks shopping was at Christmas eve as it was dead last year in my local store. I still have a £100 of stamp for shopping to spend.

Not in the morning its not, but by lunch time, I agree

  • I haven't got any supermarkets anywhere near me - all my shopping is on order from my friendly local shop AND they deliver to my door! :D

LOL I always look for the 10pm rush, its really funny seeing people with nothing but beer in their trolley rushing to the tills then 10 mins later they carry on with the rest of their shopping! I suppose it would be exactly the same in England, but I never go to the shops that late here

But the different day makes a lot of difference - 6 hours to trade on a normally busy Sunday.last year lots of stores opened at 6AM on 24th

No, sorry, that is too sensible an idea, no, we must run out and bulk buy everything we could possibly need and more.
