Have just read your post, and would add in something like this as a third paragraph:

"I also wish to express my dissatisfaction that your events team had made amendments to the agreed details prior to me signing the contract. I was specific in what I wanted for my wedding day, and feel that your team have conveyed a poor impression to me by making errors of such a nature. Obviously this does not create a feeling of confidence that everything will go well, which is what I was expecting from your venue and staff."

I don't qiute understand to be honest, but will ask Mr B (who is able to give you advice) when he is available.

In the meantime, I was wondering why on earth you are trying so hard to make your wedding perfect and giving yourself such heartache? How about having a simple wedding, after all big weddings are a big con?!! Maybe "somebody" is trying to give you a hint that it could be very stressful on the day if you don't consider it to be perfect......nothing is 100% perfect, although our wedding was 99.999% perfect!!

Our wedding day could not have been more lovey or relaxed! We married at the local registry office that is famous, then had a meal at a local (very cheap but served proper "made from scratch" food) restaurant where we had a meal outside (which meant our darling dog was able to attend the reception!). We had the whole garden to ourselves. The first time we met was at a meeting, although the second time I came across my future hubby was at this very restaurant! So there was nowhere else we wanted to have our reception.

If I add inflation to the equation, the whole wedding, including the gorgeous cake and clothes, cost us under £250 + registry office fees. I walked into a posh shop where I saw a gorgeous red and white dress in their sale and I still wear it occasionally!!! Later I happened to stumble upon a suitable tie for Mr B, again in a sale, and when I got home and looked at the dress again I realised it had the same pattern in the same colours as the tie.

What I am saying is that maybe you are trying too hard! I did not plan our wedding at all, yet it all worked out as if by magic! Had we paid a £1 million for the reception, it could not have been more perfect. Honestly....

I don't see how she is trying too hard when the registrar has been taking bribes to marry them at a time that would make the legality of the wedding itself questionable.

I think it appauling how you've been miss lead don't they have to do this through the books or let the tax man know. I would also see if you can e-mail/send a copy of the letter/correspondance to citzen advise as they might be able to help.

The OP has chosen the type of wedding & venue she wants because it is what she wants - not because she thinks she should have a big wedding or because she has been led by other people.

My wedding cost £7.5k in total, was held on a glorious summers day in our home town, had all our family & friends there and had very special individual touches that are unique to our day. It took very little planning - in fact, the only time I got anywhere near stressed was when I arrived at the venue and was incredibly nervous. Do you think that my wedding was any less perfect than yours? Lots of people on here have paid less and more than me - are their weddings only perfect if they cost less than £250?! I'm sorry, but your suggestion is ridiculous.

Thank you for your replies, I have took it all on board. But I really do what the day to be perfect, I have waited for this day for soooo long and cant beleive this has happened. I am still in a bit of shock I think. The thing is I wasnt at all stressed out about all the planning, in fact I have decided my dream job would be a wedding planner. The only thing that has stressed me is this situation. We all have different ideas and no 2 weddings are the same, so I am just trying to make mine the way I want it.

I think the idea of also sending a copy of the letter to citizens advice is a good one as unfortunately I cannot use my phone at work. Still havent finished the letter as I keep thinking of other things I should have said or it doesnt read properly lol. I think I might put a link to this thread on the consumer rights thread to see if any one there can help too, many minds and all that.

can't really on the wording but the best compliant letters are ones that don't waffle, stick to the facts and state quite clearly what I want as an outcome.
