i remember that thread about the mother and the toys and the water and the getting dinner ready
yes OP, i think you need to have a think about why you keep coming up against 'friends' who think that your house is their house!0 -
What the heck is wrong with these people?0

I think she opened the letter on autopilot without even thinking about it because she receives absolutely identical letters herself so the action was both familiar and automatic.
After that, when she realized what she'd done, she was probably just brazening it out!
I'd think nothing of it unless it happens again.0 -
Catch up with what? It matters if you said something like come round to my house and you can catch up with my mail.
Assuming that wasn't the arrangement; what were you catching up on?
:wall:
I cant wait to see what your next question is dehaani *Roll eyes*
How far do you think you can stretch this tale with your daft one-liners? Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit.
Try doing this :silenced:0 -
On first reading your post OP, I was gobsmacked, I just can't imagine anyone I know doing that! Even my Mum wouldn't open my mail if she was visiting my home!
If I'd seen your friend do that, I think I would have been so surprised it would show on my face for a start, and then I'd have asked her who that letter was addressed to, and why she opened it. Cheeky mare if you ask me.
Does your friend generally like organising you/folk around her?0 -
but the point is, it isnt weird when its in the context of how these friends normally are.
if you treat someone and are treated as one of the family and your business is their business, then things like this get blurred so she wouldnt see it as odd
i get the hump when one of my friends likes to see whats in the fridge and then says 'oh you know im nosey'
but I wouldn't open my family's mail either - if my 10-year old gets a letter (its usually really exciting like a Dentist check-up :rotfl:) she gets to open it, I wouldn't unless she told me to. And I definitely wouldn't open my Mums mail, and I do treat her house like mine when I visit.0 -
I think its going a bit too far to open anyone elses post, I dont even feel comfortable opening my own husbands a lot of the time! Then theres writing it on your calendar as well. My first reaction TBH was afair but when you mentioned your partner didnt know anything about it at the time either that calmed me down a bit.
Why dont you open some of her post (junkmail circular or something less private) next time you go round to her house and you could also check that your birthday is written on her calendar or in her dary. See how she feels about it
Failure is only someone elses judgement.
Without change there would be no butterflies.
If its important to you, you'll find a way - if not, you'll find an excuse ! ~ Easy to say when you take money out of the equation!

I have to say that I think this friend should be told that while you are laid back - you arent comatose and perfectly capable of dealing with your own post! My own sister or brother (or indeed mum - who usually pokes her nose into every aspect of my life) wouldnt dream of opening my post!0
