My youngest was 18 months before I would leave him alone with the oldest one who is an illnatured grump when other dogs are around. She loves him now but I took it very slowly as she is a staff and could have really hurt him. He is now 3 times the size and weight of her and respects her rather than being frightened of her.

You will have to introduce them at a pace you feel comfortable with. If I had a couple of poodles or yorkies where one was not accepting of a pup I could have rushed it more but in my case I had a staffy and a rottie so time was required.

From your pics it looks like you have 2 staffy's, if the older one is really intolerant she could really hurt the pup. Can you use stair gates to prevent the little one annoying her but she is still aware of his smell and noises etc but can't nip her?

We are doing the exact same thing as you.

We have a stair gate on the kitchen and Alphy has a cage also. We put him to sleep in his cage through the night and close it (cus of the kids coming down), And in the day he has the whole kitchen with the stair gate closed, Molly is OK with him, it's just when he goes to nip her, she goes for him. She is dominant and does not like to have no control, She was the same with Sam but at least he could defend himself unlike Alphy. Sam and Molly were soul mates in the end, shared the same bed, went everywhere together. RIP Sam xxxxxxxxxxx

Been a while since I posted about Alphy, think the last time was when we were having trouble with him jumping all over Molly (our 10 yr old staffie)

WELL ... they do get let out together, but he goes to pounce on her, we let him, she is OK for a few seconds, tails waggling, but as soon as he jumps on her she growls at him, he shoots off, lays down like a naughty boy being told off, and he thinks about it, then he does it again, next time she shows teeth, and she pins him down. It's horrible to see, but we bare with it, and we are not giving up.

He has grown up so much, is rather heavy to pick up for cuddles now, He has finally stopped peeing in living room (finally hiring the rug doctor for our rugs), and when back door is closed through the night/day he will pee right by the back door, so he has got the jist. GOOD BOY.

Just getting him to stop pouncing on molly, he is a right chancer. lol.. we (should I say ME) have also trained him to sit, paw and lay down.. woohoo I am so proud he is only 20 odd weeks...

funny thing is, and DH can't get his head around this, BUT when I have food at night, he sits nicely and waits, but when DH has food, he jumps all over him.. haw haw (evil laugh). I think he has become MY dog. Even though he goes work with DH in the afternoons when DH picks him up after lunch. Apparently he follows him around, but is still on his lead.

We have yet to walk them together, (molly never comes down stairs in mornings, so Alphy gets walked alone, Molly is so lazy) BUT will be doing soon, DH wants me to walk with them too, But I am always working when he is home, and vise versa.. Well as of next week I will be doing day shifts as DD2 going school full time.. Sooooooo perhaps we can work on the pouncing.. Unless you have any ideas?

Oh and his lipstick poked out for the first time Saturday I was so excited, he little pimples are also starting to get bigger (But one seems bigger than the other)... I know this sounds silly, BUT It's so bloody cute, he growing into a young man.. with his beautiful blue eyes still... Just a stunner...
