I just bought a new Audi a couple of weeks ago and the only problem was a piece of trim missing off the door mirror, not picked up at PDI or by the Salesman who said he had been over it with a fine tooth comb. In fairness, I didn't spot it till I went round the passenger side a couple of days later but the part was easily sourced from a newly arrived vehicle (same part in same colour on all variations of this model).
It's a Audi A1 1.4 tfsi sport s-tronic, which is an automatic with a double clutch, I can either use it as a manual or auto, but I prefer to use auto and disable the stop start. It's like a little pocket rocket and feels much nippier than the Mini Cooper I had previously. It's black by the way, what colour did you choose?
My son has just bought an 08 Audi A4 avant diesel and he loves it.
Oh and to the negative poster (forgot your user name) mine is not Motability, it's paid for CASH, and yes I did say Cash. Because I am fortunate to have no disability (just arthritis in my Knees, hence the auto) and a husband with a very good job. And I wouldn't begrudge anyone using their DLA however they choose to enhance their life so enjoy your new car Jetta wales.

Thank you (I think my last 4 posts have started with those words now) everybody has been very helpful (well except he who has since had their posts deleted). We were looking at the A1 a few days ago in our local Audi dealership, we were just having a nose around at the cars outside as we were passing anyway :). I prefer it to the A3 tbh, it has it's own style but the front looks just as angry as the A4 does. Really sporty car for it's price. They've really had fun with it in production by the looks of it, we thought the two tone ones didn't look quite so stylish though but there's loads of options with them.

We chose deep sea blue first but they stopped doing it and hadn't yet brought in it's replacement which is moonlight blue I believe so we went for phantom black instead and with a light grey interior which looks quite classy I think :)

Oh I'm so so excited, can you tell? lol

Off to bed now but will pop back on when we've got it :D

    Thanks again all x

It very much does make sense for us money wise because my partner is a 'young male driver' even on a low group car we're paying the same in insurance as we'll be paying for the lease. Motability is self sufficient though and has it's own insurance arrangments so can cover any under 25 driver so long as they have a car in group 18 or below in their groupings.

Actually that does start to make sense in your circumstances, just ensure that they are aware that he will be the main driver if I recall that's what you said.;)
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

And Motability cars cost just over £200 a month and up to as much as £20k advanced payment if you want something very fancy. Then after 3 years you give it back just like every other lease.

Do you HAVE to give it back, or are there options available for you to keep it? I don't think I'd want to give back a new A4 after 3 years

You can buy it at that point if you wish but the prices they offer you are apparently not very competitive at all.

You can also keep it for an extra year if you've done very low milage but that's not going to happen when we vist family that live 5 hours away, every two months.

...You can buy it at that point if you wish but the prices they offer you are apparently not very competitive at all...

People like ex-Motability cars because they assume the drivers are generally steady and the car will have been looked after well, often under the service plan.

So Motability will not sell it to you cheaply, when they know a private buyer will pay good money for it.

Take it as a compliment. :)

It's not just the private buyer, the trade know exm cars are a safe buy.
Many people on here say avoid buying ex Motability cars, not driven correctly, corners knocked off, wheel chairs scrapes etc, etc.

In my opinion that is total rubbish, and if you visit a BCA aution you will see other peolpe think the same as they always sell well

Oh gosh I'm chuffed to bitS, it's so lovely and feels and sounds so much different to any other car we've ever had. My OH keeps making me jump every time the turbo kicks in and I'm not sure I'll ever get used to that lol, it is fun though :)

The salesman we've been seeing there is lovely, really friendly and happy and I gave him a big hug before we left lol. Wasn't long before we got puzzled by it's cleverness though, we stopped at home to pick up the kids car seats and got back in the car but it wouldn't reverse. It wouldn't go in either direction in fact, then I remembered the dealer briefly mentioning that after you've put your belt on then release the brake. Turns out it won't release at all if you haven't done your belt up first and he hadn't done it yet.

It's flawless and awesome and we're really chuffed with it, thanks again for all the tips and advice.

No offence to anyone but that is the very reason I would never buy an ex-motability car as the majority will have driven the car too softly over those 3 years, the engine is most likely not to have been driven to a good bedding in point. A family friend has had two because they were low mileage both needed a new turbo at less than 20k because the previous drivers barely got the revs high enough to even use the turbo. I'm not saying they are all like that though but a lot are just driven to soft so trouble starts when someone will use the car through varying speeds/revs etc.
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.

I'm glad you're pleased with your car, I don't use mine very much because it's our 2nd car but I love to have a reason to take it out, mine's phantom black as well by the way. I let my friend drive it today and she absolutely loved it but I can't get used to the phone set up, I keep cutting my hubby off mid conversation. I'm gonna have to find more excuses to go out and get more used to it.
