...How soon is too soon for a long run then? we're planing on going to Eastbourne next weekend which from us is about 4 1/2 hours at uhm 70 *cough*...
No problem with doing that journey, but it would be a good idea to vary the speed more often than you normally would.
I don't know the journey, but that may mean coming off the motorway and doing a stretch on A roads.
What you don't want to do is sit at the same speed on cruise control for mile after mile.0 -
I would have thought the A4 has a DSG autobox?
Pity you didn't ask before as the DSG box is a double clutch manual that functions as an auto, but with a manual mode also, i drove a Passat fitted with this box and it was one of the best autoboxes that i have ever uaed, even bliiped the throttle on hard downchangea, would have been nice with a petrol Audi.
Much better than the horrible cvt box fitted previously to Audis.
You may well find the gearbox a little tight, my BiL did with his Audi A4 tdi, and his was a low mileage demo car not brand new.
It is his second A4 though and the BiL is a fickle sod when it comes to cars so the A4 must be good, he tried to get an auto tdi but couldn't find one anywhere.
I am sure somebody that knows Audis better will know if the DSG box is fitted rather than the cvt, something to keep in mind for your next one.
Always nice to have a new car, if only fir the new car smell.0 -
And Motability cars cost just over £200 a month and up to as much as £20k advanced payment if you want something very fancy. Then after 3 years you give it back just like every other lease."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0

Then you get a new one again ?
If you pay the same amount up front again or accept a small or more basic car and continue to pay the lease for it.
And only if you still have the same very significant disability.
Just going to skip on past the ignorant BS of your last post then? Didn't answere yet if you wanted to swap? I have two canes actually, one especially for grass, you can have them both if you like.
Pilock!"Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -

I don't know exactly. In the brochure it just says 6 speed manual for the model we're getting.
The only details of the different transmissions lists Multitronic which is for the quatro's. Tiptronic which seems to be an automatic. And S Tronic which is the only other one so this must be the manual box they use. It says it uses two clutches and has the next gear ready before you change into it."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -
You should have asked for advice before you commited to purchase the car.
This is a money saving forum with a motoring section, most advice would be not to buy a new car,
Mobility? I'm entitled to one too, but the sums don't make sense unless the need the new car image,
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -

It very much does make sense for us money wise because my partner is a 'young male driver' even on a low group car we're paying the same in insurance as we'll be paying for the lease. Motability is self sufficient though and has it's own insurance arrangments so can cover any under 25 driver so long as they have a car in group 18 or below in their groupings."Life is what you make of it, whoever got anywhere without some passion and ambition?0 -

No the person choses to use their DLA to lease a car at preferential rates.
They could also chose to spend the money on food, xbox games or foreign holidays, but that is their personal choice.
My dad for example choses to use the money to pay some of his Council Tax and food bills, his brother chose to have a brand new Renault Egane Scenic, auto due to hin only having one leg.
If you recieved higher rate DLA then you could chose to have a lease car at these same rates. Not all DLA/Motability users are up to no good you know, i somehow think you are trying to cause an argument or are jealous.0
