I used Hedrin last October when DD1 came home from school with them - luckily I caught them early and there weren't too many of them, although quite a few eggs. The lovely lady in the chemist suggested it and I think cost me between £10-£14, can't remember now. Put it on once all over to drown the sods, leave it on 8 hours/overnight (again from memory so not too sure) washed it out and used a hell of a lot of conditioner and combed through her long hair (that wasn't fun lol), then repeat again in 7 (??) days time to kill any newly hatched nits you missed the first time. Job done. (Obviously washed/conditioned/combed her hair inbetween those 7 days) We were both paranoid about it for ages though. DD2 managed obtain 1 nit and 2 eggs from her sister at the same time but that was it and was treated in the same way.Extra savings aim for 2020 £4,000 £0/£4,000

for a natural remedy olive oil and tea tree oil. Warm the olive oil add 3 drops of tea tree oil put on head comb through with nit comb to remove eggs and nits. Repeat every night for 3 nights, then every other night for2 applications then twice a week for 2 weeks.
We used alsorts on the children (prescriptions) but none worked, i was hesitant on using chemicals on children when they obviously werent working and the GP said she did the above, so i tried it. Kids have been nit free for months and months now0 -
I use tee tree shampoo and conditioner. I also bought the nit comb set from a health website. Have been using these for the past few months and completely cleared the nits (youngest brought them home from school).
Every time we wash hair now we use tee tree shampoo and it is keeping them at bay.
I have tried chemicals in the past and never found them very good.
You have now made me itch talking about nits.... lol...0 -
Someone I work with swears by GHD's! Going over the hair,as close to the roots as possible kills the beasts and the eggs and they just need to be combed out.If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0

My sister stayed over last weekend and my mum told me on monday she had nits, Ive checked DD's hair loads but can't see any (thankfully!) she has mega long thick hair, it would be awful.
Her hair is now staying in a pleat!
Me and my sister used to get nits all the time at primary school, when I went to academy, I started using straighteners and I never had nits again, even though she was still catching them from the kids with them heaving in their hair.
Must burn them!0 -
A friend of mine (and Mum of two), said her Jamaican Mum always used coconut oil on her hair when she was school age. Used to rub it well in before bedtime, wrap an old scarf around her head and leave overnight. Again, comb through thoroughly in the morning. Left her hair lovely and soft, too.0

Just pasted this from the last nits thread:
Seriously, try it...its brilliant!
My kids seemed to be permanently infested with nits for about 4 years when they were little and nothing killed the blighters off! I was leaving stuff on overnight that was supposed to kill them in 20 mins and they were still alive in the morning!
I read an article by Miriam Stoppard about using Quassia chips instead of anything chemical, and ordered some from ebay for pennies. I boiled them for about 20 mins, cooled the liquid and put it on the kids scalp - hey presto! Nits and lice all dead in no time....and they havent had lice since! The chips last ages too - i've treat my kids and a few of my friends kids with the bag i bought and there was over half left.
There is lots of info online about this if you know about it. Good luck!0
