Putting my daughters hair up this morning for school i found one nit and some eggs at the back of her hair. Got the nit out and pulled some of the eggs off with my nails. Im going into town this morning so was gonna call into boots and get a nitty gritty comb cos i read reviews on them a while back n they are supposedly great. But should i get hedrin too? Its just me, dd and ds. Ive let her dad know as he had them all weekend and never said anything yesterday when he dropped them off.

I have a nitty gritty comb and whilst they're good, I've found that I can't totally get rid of nits from my girls' hair with it. So I got some Hedrin too, and it worked well. A bottle is around £15 in Boots but you can get quite a few applications from that one bottle. I would buy both if you can, as the nitty gritty is great for checking hair with.0

My Mum used to rinse my hair in vinegar and warm water a few times then condition it and it always worked"Not here for a long time...just here for a good time" - Kat Von D0

A couple of combs and the biggest cheapest bottle of conditioner you can find.
That's all that worked when my daughter had them and believe me I tried everything on the market!
Patience is needed too. Every night for a fortnight, slap on the conditioner and comb through, again and again and again and again and again...Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
I agree with Shellsuit. Tried some of the treatments but the best way we got rid was with conditioner and comb, over and over for days. Quite theraputic really!£2012 in 2012 = £34.440

You're going to have to comb it through no matter what you put on her hair to get the eggs out as they stick fast like glue to the hair.
She might moan but she's going to have to if you want to get rid of them!Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
Hedrin is the best as it isn't an insecticide (which a lot of them are resistant to) -- it works by suffocating the little wotsits! It needs using several times though I think, as more eggs hatch you need to get those ones before they lay eggs, so I'd do it once a week for a few weeks. The combs help but I never found them all that good at removing the actual nits - the eggs. A pair of fingernails does best. Have an extra hunt round the hairline under fringes, back of neck, round ears as those areas seem to be the places with most eggs.
I know they are creepy but it's best to be matter of fact about it, the sad case is that if you child is at school you are likely to get another attack at some point. When my son was young we had so many infestations thanks to some parents not treating properly, we got quite blase about them in the end, treating them of course, but we couldn't spend our whole lives being freaked out.Cash not ash from January 2nd 2011: £2565.:j

Yeah i knew it would happen at somepoint, suprised its taken as long as it did for her to get them as she was at playgroup before school. My cousin is head dinnerlady at her school and has 4 kids so i asked her what she recommends. She said hedrin and comb with conditioner. Will see what i can get in boots/wilkos/chemists!0

Just shave her bald. It chemical free. The nits won't return with nowhere to hide and you'll save a fortune on shampoo and hairdrying electricity.0

I used some stuff from poundland worked a treat, also used Wildchild Quit Nits. My girls were absolutely infested. At one point DD2 used to wear a headscarf at school. Was against uniform policy but when so many parents weren't even trying to help solve the problem I stood my ground.
Apparently they don't like tea tree oil. DD1 has used tea tree shampoo ever since she got rid of them.
I also used a metal nit comb with the grooves to catch the eggs.
We bombarded them from every angle. Combs, treatment, conditioner, tea tree. Got rid in the end.Sadly, you don't have any badges yet but keep trying! See what you could get........... oh boo hoo I am crying into my wine.0
