Christmas babies and birthdays

Thanks all. Induction "deadlines" are different in different areas. I've been told it's actually 12 days here, but that given that'll Christmas Eve they might be happy to leave it a bit longer, all being well.
I mentioned this to my parents the other day and my stepdad was like "Excellent, saves on presents - just need one" and I said all the stuff about why should my baby miss out, everyone else gets two, and hinted that combined pressies/cards or christmas paper-wrapped stuff would not be appreciated and he just looked at me as if I was being really precious and that I'd probably have another think coming!
I love the birthday tree idea0 -
Don't sweat the small stuff!
My middle DD was due on xmas day in 2004 and hubby and I sat talking about how rubbish it was having a bday so close to christmas(hubbys bday is the 29th dec so has personal experience).
Everyone I spoke to was like "oh that'd be awful having your birthday on xmas day" blah de blah and DD must have heard them because she decided to pop out early..very early,in september weighing 728 grams and is very, very lucky to be here today.
Since then we realised it doesn't matter WHEN your birthday is,the pure fact you're around to actually HAVE a birthday is a blessing in itself
There'll always be some reason to complain about timings..
Bdays in august "oh they never have many turn up to parties because people are on holiday".
Bdays in january.."oh people are always broke after christmas"
Bdays in July.."bad timing because they're the youngest in the school year" etc etc ETC.
Current bump is due on 31st december and tbh he can arrive on christmas morning for all I care as long as he comes safelyI think people forget that bit and get caught up with things that in the grand scheme of things aren't really important xxx
Slightly mad mummy to four kidlets aged 4 months,6,7 and 8:D:D xx

My birthday's 8th January- I wouldn't consider it close to Christmas but I do tend to get my pressies wrapped in Christmas paper! It doesn't tend to bother me though as I don't feel my birthday's in the least bit 'Christmassy' otherwise. I always do pretty well for presents as people tend to get them in the sales.
Having said that my mum has always felt bad for me that I get a bunch of presents and then nothing the rest of the year. My siblings have their birthdays in summer so when I was younger I got a little present then too.
I am shocked and appalled by how many people get joint presents! That's so cheeky0 -
My eldest birthday is New Years Eve. It doesn't bother him really he quite likes to get combined pressies as he can have something that would otherwise be out of budget. Extended family members do often miss his birthday but we have never worried about that and neither does he. He knows that any money he gets has to last him the whole year and often it doesn't but it's good learning experience. We have always made a fuss of his birthday on the day and then maybe a panto or something in the evening where you can request a happy birthday from the stage. We have often thought about a half birthday party but never felt comfortable with that I think it better to just maybe have a party in the summer without it being 'half birthday'. Birthday parties with schoolfriends on the day have actually often been quite successful and well attended as the kids need to get out over the holidays and the adults are glad to get rid. Pretty easy to book too as a quiet time for birthday parties and doesn't always fall on a weekend.

I was supposed to be born in 1970... but i was 6 weeks early so 15th December is my bday.
same bloody excuses every year
oh will get you a bigger christmas pressie rather that bday and christmas... never happens
NEVER.
you can't do a booze cruise
no bbq
no picnic
no outdoor activity at all as too cold or raining..
and then there is a meal in a resturant... all have their christmas menus with christmas prices...
december birthdays are just too expensive to go out and enjoy yourself full stop.
I keep saying i should have another birthday in the summer but i forget
My birthday is 15th Dec as well but 3 years earlierI had all the same problems. When I was growing up we always either went ice skating or to the panto. I often go joint presents. They were never bigger!!!
Christmas decorations never go up in our house before 15th Dec. They never did when I was growing up and it's just a tradition that has carried on ever since.
My middle DD is Christmas Day baby. She was due on 17th Dec and decided to hang on!! She will 18 this year. She wants to go into a pub/club at 0001 and for them to try to kick her out
We have always made sure that her presents are separate. We celebrate Christmas in the morning and then stop everything at 1203 for her to open her presents. We then have Christmas lunch and then for the rest of the day it is her birthday.
When she was younger, we had a party during the summer for her (other 2 DD's are summer born). She got presents from her friends at her party and from family in December.0 -
I'm a january birthday (3 days after my brother) and OH's birthday is 1st December. The only thing thing that really bothered me was that certain family members (not mum and dad) would always buy my presents in the sales...... I still remember the car wash kit that "only cost a quid"0
