I am sure a lot of these problems are down to not working, when you have to hold down a job, you dont have time to be sick. Everyone has issues and aches and pains and doing a job that makes you valued gives you your pride back, I would, sorry the shout bells ringing, back soon, will edit.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I do have a job. It doesn't help, it makes me a bit happier to be forced to leave the house and see my work mates but I've had to leave most of my jobs in the past due to disability so what you're saying doesn't actually work in practice although I appreciate what you're saying about having pride and independence. Unfortunately, being sick isn't about having 'time' for it, you either are or you aren't regardless of anything else- I'm sure a lot of disabled people are depressed that they aren't able to hold a job down and don't need reminding that this is a depressing fact in their life where they can't have their own financial independence and pursue career goals they may have dreamed of. I always wanted to be a psychiatrist, ironically, but my sleep disorder and OCD made it impossible to complete university despite being fairly intelligent. That was very frustrating and now I'm working 16 hours a week in an entry level job.0 -

If you have a job and have had no input from professionals in the last two years, it is little surprise your GP was reluctant to agree you need DLA.
People do recover from mental illness, so did you really expect them to look at old records and agree you are ill enough for care now?0 -

No not out of the blue, but I went in telling her my mental health had got worse and that I was probably suicidal. She said it sounded like I was fine- no idea where she got that from. She didn't even ask any questions about OCD or depression, just made her mind up on the spot with no history or information. That's what I mean.0 -
I have OCD but I have so many other issues that I claim DLA for that result in care and mobility needs(mental health and physical) and the OCD is just a symptom in my other severe mental health issues.2019 Wins

So, does anyone have experience of claiming with OCD and genuinely, what are people's opinions on this kind of thing. I will try to stay calm  lol even though I can get quite heated if I think someone is being ignorant. I think it's time I heard the other side of the story.
I'm in a 2 year long battle myself for DLA for MH problems including OCD. Like you I suspect I'm paying the price for lacking medical intervention and contact with a helpful GP.
So you're not alone on the treatment front, diagnosis front or DLA front.... that probably won't make you feel much better. But for DLA you're probably going to need a supportive medical professional to back your claim or perfrom well at appeal. Try to research as much as possible in terms of the language to use in describing your problems in relation to the qualifying criteria. Hopefully you're getting any legal/technical support you need.
And try not to be disheartened generally by the dismissiveness of medical pros... I've faced little else myself. First visit to GP he gave me a leaflet on anxiety (3 days earlier I'd tried to walk through a 4th floor wall/window at work without consciously processing what I was doing)... quite an insult to someone of my background... not to mention woefully deficient in terms of coverage. It has not gotten much better than that..lol."Do not attribute to conspiracy what can adequately be explained by incompetence" - rogerblack0 -

On the other hand, it is accepted that with mental illness, people are less likely to seek help and see their GP.0 -

Lol a leaflet on anxiety, that must have been helpful! Thanks for your support, I'm going back to this GP in 2 weeks. The sad thing is this surgery is supposed to be better than the last one I was at...0 -

Is it possible to see another GP at the practice? I went through a couple of GPs before I found one who understood my problems and referred me for help etc.2019 Wins
