ordered from debenhams, hermes delivered very quickly.0

And so it turns out it was probably just an honest mistake for all my irritation- was delivered to 2 Blahblah, I live at 2 Blahblah Court.
Amazon sounded very confused when I told them that I wanted to pay for it, after I had requested a refund. I expect when things turn up they don't usually have people ringing up and offering to pay.0 -
I am wondering why there is blood on the calling card though..0

Try posting something through your letterbox and see if it cuts your hand.
Hermes only pay their self employed drivers 50p or so for a delivery and if its not delivered they don't get paid. Its no surprise really that they leave things as it can actually end up costing them money to deliver the things. If Hermes continue to pay such a pittance they will continue to get a poor service from their slef employed drivers.0 -
On the flip side... we send out a couple hundred parcels/month with Hermes, these are reasonably delicate items sent well packaged -- this year had 1 damaged, 0 lost and a handful that took longer than the 5 days (that I was informed of that is).
Even in December when mainstream couriers has a 3 day waiting list for collections and taking 1-2 weeks to deliver, Hermes always turned up and had parcels to the customer within a few days!0 -

I've read a few posts in another thread, which I couldn't find after I registered (clever me), and apparently, the sort of people the employ are underpaid self employed people, from the couriers to the courier support, apparently.
I suppose the best way of telling what the service is like somewhere is to look at their recruitment pages to see what employee benefits are and pay- an unsatified employee invariably leads to unsatisfied customers!
There is no courier support so they aren't underpaid as they don't exist, we as the courier are the whole deal and have to provide the complete customer service from delivering to collecting and handling customer queries and not 9-5 but 24hrs.PetulantPixie wrote Blood on cards
TBH I can't believe how many people order via retailers who use Hermes and don't read the T&C's, I think in those instances the customer is at fault, I often hear "I work from 9-5, 8-6 etc." nothing in my contract with Hermes offer this service and nothing is offered from the retailers suggesting it is.MissMotivation
I had a thread on here about Hermes couriers which got pulled....strange hey! It seems they do not like anyone tarnishing their reputation
A Hermes courier apparentley delivered a parcel containing over a £100 worth of good to my garage, which would have been fine had my garage been securely locked and no card was ever left!
The company refunded me in the end so I wasn't out of pocket but makes you wonder 1) What kind of people do Hermes employ and 2) How much money is lost by companies because of Hermes unreliability?!
Hermes look at the couriers record and collate information with other companies to establish the possibility of customers trying it on(I don't mean in this case)but generally. The HHT puts couriers at the customers door so it would be ridiculous for the courier not to leave a card.
1)I think Hermes are lucky and employ hard working and reliable people(okay out of 7,500 they may have some who fall short).
2)Hermes prosper and so do the retailers who use them, the courier loses because of the unreliability of the delivery info by the office i.e. stated delivery day Friday, unreliability by customer not in on stated day and then try to negotiate an extra out of hours service with the courier.
It is really nice though to read some customers are happy with the service from the couriers, I didn't say Hermes because it is the courier(all by themselves).0 -
I don't know if this is My Hermes or not, but given the number of posting on MSE about this, and my own experiences of them, I wouldn't be surprised.
We were down at our Big Yellow Storage depot this morning and saw a guy in the car park with a massive trolley full of online/catalogue parcels (Next, M&S, Amazon, you name it) - the stack must have been about 8 feet high - trying to load them all into a Smart car!! We were inside the depot for about 10 mins and by the time we came back outside again he was still trying to cram the lot in. There were parcels and boxes scattered everywhere, I'm surpised the car didn't burst at the seems. He managed it but I fear for the recipients of the goods - they have been bent, twisted, folded, shoved, pushed & pulled all over the place - let alone his ability to drive safely in a vehicle overloaded to the point of being illegal.
My next thought, after feeling sorry for the folks waiting for their goods, was for the man himself (presumably the courier). Surely it would have been better to make 2 trips, but how much pressure must he be under for him to take such a risk with an unsafe load? Or to not get a bigger car or van if he's going to make a living this way? Either that or he was an idiot.
Which reminds me, I'm still waiting for my M&S order.....£2 Savers Club 2016 #21 £14/£250

I am absolutely disgusted with the lack of service from Hermes. I ordered an item from George at Asda which should have been delivered within 2 - 3 working days.
I rang Asda yesterday (5 working days later), Asda rang Hermes. Hermes assured Asda that the parcel would be delivered that afternoon - nothing.
I rang Asda again today, Asda rang Hermes again. Hermes again assured Asda that the parcel would be delivered today - somehow I dont know if I can trust that info so...
I rang Hermes themselves to be told, Im sorry madam, you are not a customer of ours, you have to ring Asda, we cant talk to you. I said I didnt want to discuss my delivery but just wanted them to explain the information on their tracking service.
Me - What does 'courier to reattempt' mean? it says it for four different dates on your parcel tracking page, does it mean that your driver tried to deliver four times, because someone was here all last week? if there had been a problem like this why was there no delivery failure notice? ...
Hermes - it could mean that - but there would definately be a notice through your door, what it almost certainly means in your case is that the driver just didnt have enough time to go to your area so 'carried it over' to the next day, four times.
Dear Hermes rep, if you are reading this, I would like you to know that my humble opinion of your company, formed from my limited experience with you, is that your service is rubbish, your reliability is rubbish and I will happily share my opinions of your company with whomever cares to listen.0 -
I've had an experience with them, ordered two items of clothing, one from tesco and one from Asda, well I found the little card thing saying ring this number for redelivery etc through my letterbox, I rang the "courier" up, a very rude lady who when I said I work til 3 said she couldn't deliver after 3 since she didn't work after that time!!!0

I nearly ended up paying Next Directory hundreds of pounds for a large order I returned through their courier Hermes that never made it back to the warehouse. The courier who picked up the items gave me a card which Next refused to accept as proof of return because it had not been filled out correctly by him.
It took months of fighting but they finally agreed to refund me as a goodwill gesture but I'm very wary of Hermes now.0
