My Hermes (Courier)

Options
Well... I'll keep this brief.

I was trying to save a few quid on postage for my ebay items, I saw a banner on ebay for My Hermes and they were a lot cheaper than the Royal Mail, but I've learned there is a reason for this.

I posted a Wall Paper steamer, it was well packaged. The booking process online is very easy and quick, the 'pick up' from my home was on time BUT... the item arrived smashed, god knows how they managed to do it but they did. I put in a claim on the insurance and they assured me they'd get back to me within 28 days, that was last week. I emailed them with no response and today I've had to call their 0871 number, waited 10 mins for an answer to be told they've not gotten around to it yet, they expect it'll be dealt with this week.

Moral of the story - You pay for what you get. Royal Mail may cost a few extra quid but you're not only paying for the delivery but also for the after care and customer services.

Anyone else any experience with My Hermes?
If it wasn't for the mistakes I made in the past (and learned from), I wouldn't be who and where I am today. It doesn't matter if you've cocked up, what matters is that you put it right and apologise. x

Read My Hermes (Courier) and thought Oh dear here we go again!

It seems your courier did everything correctly "picked up on time" and then it went into the system, unfortunately damage happens but no excuse for Hermes office not dealing with it promptly and the comment "they've not gotten around to it yet, they expect it'll be dealt with this week."

    I'd be annoyed too.

I hope you got their name to complain, customers shouldn't have to pay to complain.

Say No To 0870.com or in this case 0871, from the site, I found these numbers-

    MyHermes (Hermes Parcelnet) 0871 246 1583 - 0113 397 6901
-freephone 0800 435881 Customer Services at Head Office,

    I hope this helps.

  • I've had a lot of problems with Hermes and deliveries. I'm expecting two at the moment, one from Dorothy Perkins, one from Tesco Clothing.

The DP tracking shows that the courier has attempted delivery twice and no answer. It's an office address and I can see every car that pulls in. I know the couriers car and they have not been here, let alone attempt delivery. I rang DP and they have given me a discount (I didn't request one)and have raised a query with Hermes.

The Tesco's tracking shows attempted delivery too (what a surprise) at 1.00pm today, when the office was full of my colleagues.

I go through this every time with Hermes, the courier saying that they attempted delivery. It makes me very cross when I know it's total fabrication. I don't want discounts, I just want my goods delivered.

This time I have printed off the tracking and when the courier finally turns up with my parcels (fingers crossed), I'm going to confront her because it's simply not acceptable and it will put me off ordering from companies who use Hermes to deliver their goods.

I have worked for these overnight courier companies and we never showed any respect for small items when loading on the back of a van, we had targets of 800 parcels an hour to load, so to hit that target we had to be less than gentle with parcels and packages.

When I had problems with a Thornton's delivery, it was these wallies who were the courier. I ordered some chocolates on line. They came to deliver at 10.30 but I was out. When I came home around 5-ish, there was a card through my door saying that the big box with "Thornton's" written all over it was left in a safe place..... the greenhouse :rotfl:. It was a warm day and they even had shut the greenhouse door (we always leave it open in the summer). Lovely melted chocolate was not exactly what I had ordered!

(I have written about this experience on another post, but I find it so amusing, I thought I'd share it twice :))
  • In my instance with Hermes, I ordered a steam cleaner from Amazon, to be delivered this morning, got up at 7, checked where it was on the order checker on Amazon, was still in Bradford (not far from me), and checked again at 9, and it had been delivered 20 mins earlier. This was strange as the door bell hadn't gone, normally find out something's been delivered by it turning up!

However, tried to ring Hermes, after finding their number, (Yahoo Answers to the rescue, not normally the most reliable of services), they are contractually obliged not to discuss awol deliveries with retail customers, rang Amazon, they said that Hermes had delivered to my porch, and that they were allowed to do that, if they thought it was a safe place.
This would have been fine, but I don't have a personal porch, I live in a second floor flat.
I checked all the outside areas, and the lobby area, nothing there. No calling cards. Not even rung the buzzer.

    Disgraceful

Amazon offered to replace the item, but decided against it, and I am goign to get it from Tesco instead, and pick the damned thing up myself. Amazon said they would deliver it first class to arrive Monday or Tuesday, but I really needed it for this weekend.

I had a thread on here about Hermes couriers which got pulled....strange hey! It seems they do not like anyone tarnishing their reputation :D

A Hermes courier apparentley delivered a parcel containing over a £100 worth of good to my garage, which would have been fine had my garage been securely locked and no card was ever left!

The company refunded me in the end so I wasn't out of pocket but makes you wonder two things....1) What kind of people do Hermes employ and 2) How much money is lost by companies because of Hermes unreliability?!?
My home is usually the House Buying, Renting and Selling Forum where I can be found trying to (sometimes unsucessfully) prove that not all Estate Agents are crooks. With 20 years experience of Sales/Lettings and having bought and sold many of my own properties I've usually got something to say ;)
    Ignore......check!
  • I've read a few posts in another thread, which I couldn't find after I registered (clever me), and apparently, the sort of people the employ are underpaid self employed people, from the couriers to the courier support, apparently.

I suppose the best way of telling what the service is like somewhere is to look at their recruitment pages to see what employee benefits are and pay- an unsatified employee invariably leads to unsatisfied customers!
