I find it odd that Facebook are not helping you recover your account even if the email address has been changed.

Theres an option to report/block your profile which can be seen under your profile photo or friend list (depending if your friend list is on show). Click on that and then select 'This is my Profile, but I no longer have access to it'.

When my account was compromised a few months back I clicked on the password reset option. After a few attempts it automatically blocked my account so no one was able to login even with the correct password. I was then taken through the steps to recover my account to prove it was mine. I had to email Facebook with photo ID which included my name and DOB. I've since deleted my account and haven't been back on.

    hi,

My email address hadn't been changed but my email address had also been hacked which meant I had to email Facebook from an alternative email address.

They locked my account so no one could access it until the account owner (me) sent photo ID with full name and DOB by following the steps to gain control of my account again.

I can't understand why they are not helping you get your account back, all I can suggest is to report your account again by clicking on report/block this user under your profile photo.

Maybe try these two links: http://www.facebook.com/hacked/ http://www.facebook.com/help/?page=1023

The hacker has changed the email address attached to my facebook account, its not an email of mine :( I think thats why they wont help me:mad:

I understand what the hacker has done but Facebook should still be able to help you recover your account by putting a lock on the account and asking you to provide photo ID so you can prove you are the account owner. If you email Facebook again and explain that you are willing to provide the photo ID they might then offer to help recover your account.

If they are able to help recover accounts when you no longer have access to the email registered with Facebook then surely they will be able to help if the email has been changed.

I noticed in one of your posts above that you were able to see the email address which has been used on your Facebook so you could say you no longer have access to that email.

In my case, both my facebook and email passwords had been changed so I had to email Facebook from a different email address. My account was locked after trying to reset my password about 5 times in a short space of time then I had to email Facebook with the photo ID they requested.

Since you know the email used on your account, try to login with a password then request a new password to be sent to the email. Do this a few times and the account will lock. Then when you try to login again it will ask you to go through the security steps and upload the photo ID. Hope this helps.

I never thought of that, thanks very much :)
