My recommendation was for the combination of unlocked modem and separate SIM. Ah...you are one of the people with selective perception.

Not a problem, get the solution most suited to you.

You can buy it any time that you like. Sometimes the SIM packs have a 'use by' date.
Of course you should allow yourself a little time to get used to the system.

But it will be locked to 3UK. You won't be able to use it on another network not abroad unless you unlock it.

I took it on my holidays and it worked perfectly so thank yous for all your help!
