What is the least expensive way of getting a laptop on the internet for about 10 to 14 days whilst on the move in the UK? What equipment is needed and much approximately would it cost?

    Prepaid mobile broadband.
You'll need to buy a dongle, then buy top up for it.
You can check out some offers here:

Have internet access on mobile but due to it being a small screen thought it would be easier to use laptop.

You connect the phone to the laptop & use it as a modem, though not all networks allow you to do this

The model of mobile telephone is more important. Personally I would buy a USB modem. This one is £14 and allows you to use any data SIM here and perhaps abroad too..

You can but a preloaded data SIM for less than £5.

This will work as long as O2 has 3G coverage in the areas concerned.. Though perhaps 2G may also be adequate for the OP.

An unlocked dongle allows you to have more than a single network SIM at hand.

Is this the best option then? BTW what usage would you be allowed on the data SIM or is that extra? (Obviously haven't got a clue about any of this) :o
