Is not the mini pro android ? , if so it should allow tethering, and if you have a data allowance on O2 , then that should be ok afaik o2 don't block it for pay monthly.

edit: mind you it may need to be rooted...so a dongle may be a better bet.

The mini pro is Android and does have a data allowance. What do you mean by rooted, sorry haven't got a clue about any of this?

Is this the best option then? BTW what usage would you be allowed on the data SIM or is that extra? (Obviously haven't got a clue about any of this) :o

A 1GB data SIM with 3UK is less than £5. A 3GB under £14. You can find mobile broadband SIMs from every network via eBay.
As you will be moving around, I cannot tell you who will have the best coverage in your areas of travel.

Once you have chosen the SIM, you will need to call the Network in order to acquire the connection details in order to enter them in to the connection manager interface.

Here is a link to likely connection details.

You may also need to go to the networks website in order to top up and check your usage statistics.

If you just need simple, then perhaps just purchase a 3UK mobile broadband modem with prepaid data.
But it will be locked to 3UK. You won't be able to use it on another network not abroad unless you unlock it.

Examples here. You can find cheaper.

Would prefer O2, does it cost much more? Is it possible to purchase an O2 mobile broadband modem with prepaid data? It would only be needed for browsing, not watching movies, etc.

The modem to which I linked is O2 anyway.... post #7. But their 3G coverage may not be as widespread as 3UK. That's why I suggested that modem. If O2 is not good in your location, you can slot in another data SIM.

If you are sure that O2 will be good enough for you and that you won't need another network, you can buy an O2 modem, replete with 1GB of data here for £16.

O2 Mobile Broadband Data SIMs on their own are not great value.

3UK mobile broadband modem with prepaid data it is then!
