The inside panels are designed to come off.. you wont destroy them.

The problem is that alot of cars need the door open to get to the fixings that allow the door card to be taken off. So without the door open somthing will have to be damaages if you go down that route.

OP - Does the handles on inside and out feel as if they are still attached to the mechanisim or to they fell looser than normal?

Also have you tried a calling a car locksmith to see if there is anythng the could do?

you're right.. I remember now that the door opened when opening with the key in the lock but not remotely. This allowed me to spray loads of WD40 which after a couple of days worked. It also allowed me to get the door card off without damaging it.

Best thing if your worried about the door panel is too find a replacement panel from ebay or a breaker, you can then see where the fixings are and you have a panel to replace it with once fixed. There isn't much point in beating around the bush, rip it off, fix it and replace panel or take it to a garage and get them to do it. You won't be able to see the full extent of the problem till you get the panel off, it could be something very simple.

It probably won't fail. They will simply refuse to do the test if they can't open the door.

    Nope, it's a definite fail.

Did you read the whole sentence? Some places will not test it unless they can open the front doors so how can it fail?

If it is not "testable," it will be given a failure notice and the OP will be charged for the MOT test, regardless of whether the examiner refuses to carry out the test or not.

A cheeper way is to go to dealers and get them to print out from their parts catalogue

LMAO depends on your dealer, i know it would be far cheaper to buy a whole door, get it resprayed and fitted then to just get a piece of paper from the local VX dealer, they charge you just for opening the door.
