Would you buy a car with a short MOT?

Sounds good! P is 96/97 iirc. You can forget about that cambelt for a while then. Is there any history, particularly a receipt for that cambelt? And just remember cambelts wear with age as well as time. If it was last done 5 years ago then it'll probably need doing again even if its only done 20k since.0

It comes with all of the history, receipts, service history, MOT history, everything.
Thanks for the heads up about the cambelt and age thing.

I feel a bit silly. I totally misunderstood the cambelt thing. When he said 60,000 miles I thought he meant that that was the last time the cambelt was changed, when infact he meant that it needs to be changed at every 60,000 miles and that it was last changed at 130,000 miles.:o I'm an idiot.
Went to see the car today with FIL. Him and OH took it for a drive and it drives really well. The seller (he's a private seller) has agreed to get a new MOT for it and we'll give him the money for the MOT. We put a deposit down, just so he knows that we're not timewasters.
It's a P reg (not sure how old that is.
).
Ask him to prove it.The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
I'd me more concerned about rot on a MK3 Golf arches around windscreen,Sills, and seat belt mounting points are a common MK3 Killer....... Cambelts a chimp could do on these so no biggy.
If he's agreed to testing it then happy days.... Swap the belt etc out for peace of mind.0 -

Hey everyone.
Just to let you know that the car went in for the MOT on Tuesday and passed and the guy dropped it around on Tuesday evening. We're just waiting for the insurance certificate and then we can tax it.
