No he means most hire cars have GPS tracking devices fitted so they can monitor where the car has been and is now, helps them recover lost cars and keep a track of mileage for services ect.
A lot of fleet hire vehicles have them as well .

No never had a bad experience cos never been able to find their prices competitive.

I think that's because Hertz are more interested in the business market than the bucket and spade brigade. When I used to travel around Europe a lot I always used to use Hertz as they had locations everywhere and provided a good service. Price was a secondary concern.

So, with Hertz I often crossed borders but the cheaper holiday car rental companies may well have restrictions in order to keep their costs down.

I agree......they are more business hire than holiday hire & that is reflected in their prices.

Funny, I often find Hertz to be the cheapest, both directly and through brokers such as Expedia / Ebookers.

Don't always dismiss the "big boys" Hertz, Avis Europcar etc. on price alone. I have had some good deals with Hertz and Avis and they usually offer the fairer full to full fuel policy, although you need to check the T&Cs at the relevant location. Generally their CDW excess is higher but this can be offset with one of the annual CDW excess insurance policies.

As always it pays to compare all options and T&Cs not just the "headline" price.
