Buyer does not want item...1 minute after winning!

Many thanks to all who have replied....the item she won had 2 previous bids on it so she must have placed a higher bid in the last few seconds before auction ended...the tone of her message to request I cancel it was not very appealing so I shall mull your advice over the next 24 hours before doing anything further...thanks !0

this was a buy it now bid though you can only withdraw with agreement from the seller as a buy it now bid ends auctionbobsbargains wrote: »with over 3000 sales on ebay 100 % good feedback unfortunately there are some scum out there who just bid for kicks . it is easy to withdraw a wrong bid before the auction end it is your wright to do this thats why e bay put this in place but not at the end when the sale has gone through ..it is an auction after all and buyer beware...... when selling items fees e bay and paypal take are high ie 99p sell you can end up with only 38p items in range 1000 upwards generate huge fees when someone out bids a genuine buyer for kicks the time it takes to recover the loss is 8-10 weeks £100 S out your bank on yopur next bill which you cannot stop, to pay e bay this is not re imbursed until next bill if dispute is settled and the good genuine buyer is put off the sale and lost forever. kick them off i say. there would be no need for money expert at all if everyone was as honest as you now would there ! cheers

Agreed!bobsbargains wrote: »unfortunately there are some scum out there who just bid for kicks .
Immediately after one auction, I received a very apologetic and rather desperate email from a buyer, who explained that they couldn't pay because they needed the money for a funeral.
I pursued a NPB without hesitation ... how heartless am I?!!!!
Well, their feedback shows they have been using the same 'need money for a funeral' excuse - regularly - since 2003!

Maybe every other seller has said no as well?

This looks as though she has used some form of auction sniping software and perhaps entered a maximum bid ( to make sure she won it at hopefully a much lower price ) into it early on in the listing....then forgot all about it.Many thanks to all who have replied....the item she won had 2 previous bids on it so she must have placed a higher bid in the last few seconds before auction ended...the tone of her message to request I cancel it was not very appealing so I shall mull your advice over the next 24 hours before doing anything further...thanks !
In the meantime two genuine buyers who really wanted the item put in decent bids against each other, forcing the price up ....When the snipe software kicked in a few seconds before the auction finished, then it just topped the two genuine bids...but the final buyer didn`t expect to have to pay such a high price so has now decided to refuse to pay.0 -
Second Chance offer to the next highest bidder and file a NPB against the cow.0

The problem with offering on a 2nd chance before going through the whole NPB case means that if she pays for it then the seller could potentially have two buyers & will end up with a NPS & neg FB.0

If the other sellers had also said no to a mutual and opened an NPB then buyer would not have been able to continue their time wasting. Most sellers have their restrictions set to exclude people with two or more strikes.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. look does it matter if you trust buyer or not , what diff will it make in the long run .. your still not going to get them to pay for the item so cut your loses and relist
If you cannot trust them to input the right bid, can you trust them to cancel?
With a mutual, they must agree, disagree or forget.
If they agree, fine, fees refunded.
If they disagree (slip of the keyboard like the bid amount?) then you don't get fees back and they can leave feedback.
If they forget, after seven days the mutual can be closed and the seller is reimbursed.
So that is why you need to trust, I have had buyers 'wrongly' hit the decline button. Then there is no way back.
File a NPB. If they don't pay, close it on day 8(4 days after opening) and they are given a strike and cannot leave feedback.
If buyers had brains we would all be ok.0 -
There is a trend on more than one thread to assume that a seller can just 'cancel' a transaction at will and suffer no harm from it. This concerns me as it could mean that some sellers are walking away from a transaction believeing that by doing so it is somehow cancelled, but not realising they get stuck with all the listing and final value fees.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards.
