Buyer does not want item...1 minute after winning!

Hi, wondered if anybody could help...sold an item 2 days ago, bnwt, and got an ebay message 1 minute after auction had ended from the winning bidder saying that she did not want the item because her bid was more than she wanted to pay! She said that she was going to inform e bay and would I cancel the bid. Now surely people are aware of the numbers they press when bidding so how could she be shocked at what she paid....she is not a new e bay member, she has over 300 feedback, no negs.Am I obliged to cancel the transaction as requested..any advice gratefully rcd.

just canel and relist, saves any hasstle and bad feedback
if the buyer does not want to pay your not going to be able force her to

I'd wait four days then open an unpaid item case so she ends up getting a strike, maybe that's mean but if she gets two in 12 months it'll stop her bidding on most auctions. If sellers don't give buyers strikes they will keep doing, and getting away with, things like this.

Just cancel it. Then you can re list it.
Or you could wait 4 days, open an NPB, wait again, have them pay on the last day, then claim an unautorised transaction through paypal, and finish a messy transaction in several weeks time, and still have to re-list it.
(or they could pay, you can ship it, and risk 1 star across the board and a neg)

A mutual requires the co operation of the buyer though, it is not just as simple as cancelling the auction and relisting.

To mutually cancel open a dispute on a mutual basis, buyer then gets asked whether they want the item. They have 7 days to respond and if they say no, then the transaction is cancelled but buyer can still leave feedback.If they say yes then just pray that they then go on to pay.

Just cancel , they have the right to cancel the bid if they have made a mistake with the figures for example bid 912 instead of 129 on a normal auction
i do not think you should try for a non payment strike because they have been honest with you and contacted you straight away

So how much do you trust a buyer who cannot enter the correct amount even after being asked to confirm on two separate screens to agree to a mutual when asked?

look does it matter if you trust buyer or not , what diff will it make in the long run .. your still not going to get them to pay for the item so cut your loses and relist

Hi had loads of these timewasters not good enough no excuse they bid there choice they new what they were doing check there feedback it could be you are selling something they are and by taking you out of the equation they sell there similar item.. E bay get annoyed at them as well as it costs them sale fees. wait 7 days then file a non paying bidder. you will have to do this to get your fees back which e bay will have allready grabbed on your next bill . when you file a claim buyer will not be able to leave any feedback and will get a strike you will get your fees 3 strikes then they are banned from wasting a good forum for buying and selling. you can allways do as they ask but still risk bad feedback which cannot be removed . people assume when they get banned they can simply re register in another name . not true nowadays as ebay have software to identify computer ip addresses.

If you are down £100 in fees like i have been you would not simply cut losses and re list get these people off e bay for life
