We have been in tears here tonight, our cat has gone missing
Technically, he isn't 'our' cat, he adopted us and has spent every day or night here for months and months. We weren't even cat lovers but somehow he found his way into our hearts and now we are finding it really hard. He went out on Saturday night and hasn't been back since. I know that isn't long, but usually if he is out at night he is sitting by the back door in the morning, but there has been no sign of him.
He distracted my daughter from her pain when she sat stroking him and I am worried she will go into a depression. She doesn't often, she is a very positive person, despite the sh** she has to deal with daily, but the last time she was depressed, it knocked her for six and she had to have three weeks off work
He is such a sweetie, very gentle and loving but also kranky when the mood took him (which of course made us love him more!)
Anyway I will stop talking about him now because if anyone is not a cat person (as I am not really) they will think I am being stoopid!OD [STRIKE] £2600 [/STRIKE] £0 :j Loan [STRIKE]£9500.00[/STRIKE] £0 :j Car [STRIKE]£3150[/STRIKE] £0 :j Moving Costs [STRIKE]£1300[/STRIKE] £0 :j Savings £1150 :j

aww... tenmah, i hope he finds his way back to you soon. Have you spoken to the neighbours? Could he have got shut in a shed or garage?
some people say the puting some of the contents from your vacumm in your garden helps cats find their way back cos of the familiar smell.
I use the 'shake the cat biscuits box' method when mine went missing, twice my Sugar was in someone's garage!Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500 -
I'm definately NOT a cat person, to the point where I am allergic to them and they still come over and say hello.
But as a non-cat person I can understand how comforting a cat can be. I really hope yours makes it home. I too have heard the hoover bag theory works so maybe try that.

The thing is, I can't knock on the neighbours doors because logically he must belong to one of them. This road has people moving in and out all the time, so I am wondering if his owners have moved out and taken him with them! There was a van down the road yesterday, but I don't know if the people were moving in or out. At the time I didn't take much notice. I too have read about the hoover trick, but again as he isn't our cat, I don't know whether he would recognise our smell. Although he has lived with us for months and months now, so I am not sure if he has been going home or not. It might be that the real owners were as heartbroken as us when he started staying round ours all the time. I am mindful of the fact that we don't really have any ownership of him, but it doesn't stop us from missing himI'm definately NOT a cat person, to the point where I am allergic to them and they still come over and say hello.

My daughter was allergic to cats too Butti, until this one came round more and more. In the beginning she was taking antihistimine tablets, but as time went on she was finding she didn't need them any more, so maybe that is your answerOD [STRIKE] £2600 [/STRIKE] £0 :j Loan [STRIKE]£9500.00[/STRIKE] £0 :j Car [STRIKE]£3150[/STRIKE] £0 :j Moving Costs [STRIKE]£1300[/STRIKE] £0 :j Savings £1150 :j

has he been living at yours more or less all the time since he adpoted you? if he has, and he had other owners, i'd have tohught they would have knocked on doors or put up posters.
if they havene't, then i would say he is your cat...Cats don't have owners - they have staff!!DFW Long Hauler Supporter No 1500 -
Yes, I was surprised that they seemed to accept him not being at theirs. We did live in fear that someone would knock on the door and we rehearsed what we would say - such as no we don't even like cats, but then realised the food bowl and water bowl might give us awayOD [STRIKE] £2600 [/STRIKE] £0 :j Loan [STRIKE]£9500.00[/STRIKE] £0 :j Car [STRIKE]£3150[/STRIKE] £0 :j Moving Costs [STRIKE]£1300[/STRIKE] £0 :j Savings £1150 :j
