Okay and what's wrong with home educating? I mean it's cheaper than private schooling and like I know a SAHM who has home educated 12 of her children. With the education system being so liberal and even 6 year olds worried about fat and calories in cake I just hear too many scare stories about the state education system to consider anything else :T

Nothing at all wrong with home educating. But I think it should be a choice for parents, and it's disgusting for a school to say 'this child is costing us too much, you've GOT to home ed'.

I understand that. This is my second attempt and I'm really struggling. I can't understand how when I did A level economics I got a grade A with nearly 100% on some papers, and yet I'm barely scraping passes now. A lot of it is not understanding what they want in the answers, which was a problem with A level too (my tutor just says 'read the notes'). I also find the diagrams really hard to understand, they don't build them up from scratch adding a bit in each time, they just take the full thing and try to explain it - usually with the explanation on the other side of the page!

    QUOTE]

The diagrams on my lord, they sent me into a tizz every time I looked at them. And then there was the great big pile of donkey balls they called SPSS!

Are we really in June as the weather outside resembles November!

    I haven't even tried SPSS.

Well, I've heard back from Leeds. I can do the two courses as joint honours, and I would be able to move to full time. I've downloaded the application form, so I'll be getting on with that, although my printer's not working . I need to get it sorted because I've got writing group tonight and need to take some pieces.

What a great thread! i have been MIA for a bit but was glad to come back and find this.

So much life going on for you all! Births, deaths, marriage, buying houses... hugs to those that need them, strength to those fighting the system and happy hugs for all the good news!

My life changed entirely a few weeks ago - some of you may remember that a major motivation for my debt busting was that I wanted to take a job with a lower salary based in Africa. Well, here I am! 6 weeks into my new life in Uganda. its been a massive roller coaster, with a new, much bigger job, a new house with roommates and obviously totally new social scene. Just yesterday I was thinking about how happy and privileged I am to be able to do work that is so meaningful to me while keeping financially afloat and having such a fantastic adventure.

Its also meant that my lovely (now ex) OH and I have split - sadly we just couldnt make our lives work when we were going such different directions. Im very sad about it - I feel like if i had met him 10 years later than I did it could have been permanent. I'm slowly getting to know the single me (had been with him since I was 17) and am taking it day by day.

Sadly dont think the meetup will be within train distance of Kampala, but I love to think of you all having a great time!

What a great post NTBY. Sounds great. May point Niccatw in your direction if you don't mind. I know she is thinking of going abroad with VSO.

Sounds amazing. If you don't mind me asking what are you doing for your new job? I've just been making cards to sell since 3pm and am now wacked and still have 20+ birthday cards to cut out toppers for and put on. Sure there has to things easier than this but I enjoy it and there's barely any pressure on me as it just goes under my £20 a week I'm allowed to earn extra....:A

Didn't know Niccatw was thinking of going abroad with VSO? What a small world it is. Do you know her B? I haven't heard from her in a while. Is she okay?

Yes she seems to be fine. A bit overworked but other than that okay. I think VSO is a long term plan but may help to know someone who is already out in foreign lands!

Wow, working in Uganda sounds brilliant, well done on following your dreams!

Aaaargh, my printer still wont work. It's had a document in the queue for weeks now and it wont print or delete it, and it wont print anything else until that's done. I've even tried to uninstall it, but it wont let me while there's a print queue.

I sometimes download it on to a stick and take it to the library for printing Ames.

Thanks Butti, I've got another printer that I got to use at mums, and I'm going over there this week so I'll bring it back with me.

See how my other printer feels about me bringing in a replacement to break its strike!
