gadget, it may be worth nothing that your hospital will have a PALS http://www.pals.nhs.uk/ who are there to help with communication issues of this type.
It may be worth contacting them and explaining the problems you have already had in case he has to respond further to your claim.

Thanks for that, but we hope it won't be necessary. Let's see what Friday brings.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Friday has brought "Claim accepted" and we'll have the money in a week or so.
I'm told this will include interest but don't know what rate they pay. Any ideas or does "not much" cover it?I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Glad to here the claim has been accepted without need to refer to the FSA, FOS, newspapers etc etc etc.
Hopefully, with every positive outcome the insurance industry redeems itself for past errors.
In relation to the interest rate, I've no idea!0 -
So it sounds like the insurer did what it needed to and then paid up.
The interest payment is likely to be modest and it it is also taxable - either by the insurer deducting it at source and passing it to HMRC or via your tax return.
However, the claim itself should be tax free.0 -
So glad to hear it's gone through. I hope you are both going out for dinner, or at least having steak or equivalent tonight!

In whose name? I'm a higher rate tax payer and my wife doesn't pay tax. The policy covers (covered!) both of us and is (was!) written into trust.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

They do seem to be cleaning up their act. Given we paid premiums of nearly £2k pa, for year after year, we'd have been gutted if they'd refused to pay!I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Great news, ive been keeping an eye out for this thread popping back up.
So all in all, it took around 7-8 weeks from claim to acceptance with another week for payment?
Thats not bad at all. Would you be prepared to say who the insurer was/is?

No money yet! It will be a happy moment when the money hits the bank, and an even nicer one when our bank call to try and talk us into an investing interview. Its good to see you have received a payment though.I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television.
