Are the AutoVaux parts VX stuff or copies? Website seems to draw a blank for a lot of stuff.
....
Never used AutoVaux.0 -
On the website it says.
Autovaux was established in 2001 and has quickly been recognised as THE number 1 supplier for Original Quality Vauxhall spares
I did buy from them, the spares come in either VX boxes, or plain boxes.
I've only ever had to buy service items, I've never needed anything else from them, and now I have an account with VX, so I don't use them anymore. I wouldn't hesitate to if I needed to though.
The plain boxes have oe manufacturer parts in, eg, the plugs I bought where bosch, rather than marked VX, but had the right part numbers on.
The oil filters where genuine.
The air filter was a plain unmarked item, but looked identical.
Oil, anitfreeze etc should be VX.
The prices are very close to trade, so they can afford to be selling genuine, or oe manufactured parts for the prices.0 -
You'll need new decent jubilee clips, and make sure you put the little pipe on before you put the housing back, as it's nearly impossible to get your fingers in to get it on after.
You'll need a tube of instant gasket as well, and new anti freeze.
Thanks for that, i'll get jubilee clips in prep no good finding i need them after i have removed the thermostat lolEveryones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
Vauxhall-world parts I use for odds n sods.... Their price minus 20%ish via a VX Forum I joined ages ago.... Search for part numbers seems to work better than AutoVaux which seems to draw a blank a lot of the time.
Summer I tend to be too busy with Full time Job and @ home to go out my way to VX Dealers... VX world with the Discounts and P&P works out just a bit more than TC Prices...
Anyone noticed ECPS have hiked their prices for the Oil? £16.99 for 10/40 Carplan Semi on their website ad before any discount?0 -
What forum are you using for the discount?? I'm a member of most vaux forums i think by now lol. I won't go to my local vauxhall dealer for anything as there prices are ridiculous, everyone quotes x amount from there dealership and several times now I have either popped in to pick something up or rung up for a price and its usually a minimum double the price, most of the time its atleast 3 times more expensive then others are quoting.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0

There is a few niggles I need to get sorted so hopefully someone can help me. Its been a while since I have had a petrol so some of these maybe perfectly normal compared to a diesel.
Any help on any of these little niggles would be much appreciated.
Rear door won't unlock or lock from the key fob or from the key in the door. It will lock/unlock if you pull the button up or press it down though, seller reckons its just a solenoid needs replacing??
Car is a bit lacking in power, hard to describe on here but the power just feels a bit lumpy, you go to put your foot down and it'll go then hesitate then go again, (does that make sense)??
Temperature gauge seems to register fine when your parked although when coming down the motorway home it was virtually on zero for temp??
Engine seems to be getting very hot, just done a run of about 70 miles home but when I have stopped to park (the temperature gauge kicks in now) it was just idling in the car park and the temp kept rising to over the 100 mark, the fan kicked and cooled it down to under a 100 again, is this normal for a petrol as the fan rarely (if ever ) has kicked in on the diesel. The engine also has a very hot rubbery smell to it too as its heating up not sure if that has any relevance??
Just hope I haven't made a mistake in buying this........all in all though the body work isn't bad for a 1999 car, the alloys are reasonably clean and the interior is very good but does need a good clean and some seriously strong air freshner lol
you need a new actuator for the rear door, check the wiring in the rubber boot between the pillar and door.
the lumpy running could be the cam position sensor but could also be other sensors or egr, you need to read the fault codes if your willing to shell out for a reader they are cheaper then the kit a garage would use as it just reads codes, can come in handy.
have your fan switch and thermostat looked at. The fan should kick in a little after halfway on the gauge it should never go past this.
going to the max side of the gauge will cause problems like head gasket failure and warped head. The rubbery smell confirms that it has overheated.0 -

Thanks for replying red eye. The door is fixed, wires were broken between the pillar and the door. The car gets to 90 when the fan kicks in not 100 which i changed in another post. Cam sensor is another thing to look at.
Can you recommend a cheap code reader??Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -
