That definately gave me a laugh, thanks RacyRed. I would probably fllake out after a mouth full as I haven't drank for over a year.

I made a what needs using slow cooker thing today, which actually tastes yummy

    Chicken (3 breasts)
    Carrots (about 5 chopped)
    Peas (about 2 good handfuls)
Barley and lentils, another few handfuls
Pasta (hmm 3 cups full ish) (had no potatoes)
About 4 pints of stock, chicken and veg

6 hours in the slow cooker later it's bloomin lovely! It's like a chunky soup. Going to freeze some portions.

The old me would have thrown it all out or at least some of it, shocking isn't it!!
One day I might be more organised...........

  • Iwanttosave how old is your son?? I *may* have a bike that would be useful. It is brand new - only ridden two or three times - but has a puncture. Would need to ask (miserable) XDHs permission before I offer it for free but would offer you first dibs if you want it.

Oh Annie, what a beautiful sentiment, thank you so much for the thought. Oh I am so touched :o

My son is 6, so we are looking at a 16" wheel sized bike.

We are up in Manchester so would probably have trouble getting it here anyways, I have bid on one on ebay, the seller lives up the road and if I win it, they say they can deliver.

Thank you soo soo much for the thought, that is so amazing of you.

    *gets all teary eyed*

  • Wanty,

You are more than welcome. I'm only in Preston btw but the bike is too big for a 6yo. :( It is suitable for a 10-12 yo. Oh well, I may get it repaired anyway. DD is a tomboy and doesn't want one of those girly bikes.

Hope you are successful in your bid!

RacyRed - you sound like my kindagal, thanks for the laugh ... I shall definitely try that one tomorrow, Absolut is chilling in the freezer currently :)

Today has been a mixed day. DD had a v.disturbed night .... today I inspect her tonsils - oh yeh - tonsillitis it is. She wasn't chuffed as it was her nursery Christmas party today, and a girl has to socialise ..... once that was over, she insisted on coming home, so my work day ground to a halt. But rather her home and happy, than away and mis. We/she watched a mix of CBeebies and winnie-the-pooh, then I dragged her off for some retail therapy to Waitrose .... she advised me on my wine purchases (but more worringly kept saying in a loud voice that the "boy" wanted beer and not wine .... not sure the "boy" (late twenties) was quite so sure, oops!) Even more worrying was the fact that she was telling me of all the boys at nursery who'd been trying their daddy's beer ... I hate to think of 3yr old's conversation, I can only remember the state of conversations I was having at 14   .

Finally planned my Christmas Day menu, but it's all up in the air till Monday, when I discover whether my aunt's prognosis (brain tumour) is so hellish that we need to change geographical location, in which case I need to take food and travel 200 miles. We'll see. The only downside (Christmas wise, not life wise) is that I may have to "suffer" my MIL's xmas pud, rather than the Tesco one I bought in Jan (£15.49 to £3.99) and been maturing ever since. Hey if that's all I'd not be too worried :(

Still no stairs, still no hall floor. Washing is having to be done in the td as there is too much dust and the weather is too atrocious (fine drizzle continuously) but I haven't used it in anger since last Summer (2005) so hey, it's life. Ironing is going to be harder work, I always find that line dried is easier to dry, especially if shook first.

Wheat bags have been made :)

Sloe gin / voddie needs to be decanted (and sampled by DH, he didn't look too disgruntled at that suggestion :rotfl: ), labels designed.

Tomorrow, I must dig out the chutney and sample, then hopefully label.

DH's voucher has been designed/printed (he's having an agreed car driving day but he needs to book it when he wants it), DM (dear mother)'s voucher has been printed (she wants to do a millinery course, so apart from HM stuff, I'm going to contribute towards that) ... MIL ... yeh, well, DH has to do some shopping by himself .... or failing that DD and I best do some more retail therapy tomorrow, LOL.

But the best pressie, is one for my mate .. vouchers for babysitting services (well I think it's a good one), she and I have no babysitters ..... no rellies in the area etc., so I want to give her a non-monetary value pressie (whether I relish the idea of 2 toddlers is another matter, LOL)

I'm fed up of going commercial with Christmas, it costs loads and no-one cares for the pressies. DH and I have been there with the earning and spending loads, now we're earning little (still spend too much :) ), but want to put more care and thought in to pressies.

Oh and DD's baby's quilt and pillowcase and bedding has been finished :) So chuffed with myself ... however, still need to make a canopy for the crib, so that's one of the jobs for the weekend evening.

Oops, I'm sorry I've been wittering, but hey most peeps are asleep by now on here .. so sleep well :)

    Awwwww taplady!!! ((((((((BIG HUGS))))))))

Gee that IS a shock! 40 is very young to die of whatever causes! But unfortunately it's the prime age for heart attacks in men. I hope he didn't suffer...:(. Hope the weekend will cheer you up, hun.
